Technical Specifications TU 1381-068-00186654–2016 have been developed for large-diameter electrowelded straight-seam high-strength pipe used in special-purpose structures, including those that operate in severe climatic conditions. Pipe made from thick sheet with a low impurity content by thermomechanical rolling with accelerated cooling is characterized by low-temperature strength, crack resistance, thermal stability, and resistance to fatigue-crack propagation. Such pipe resists mechanical aging and withstands seismic shocks. Research data permit the formulation of Technical Specifications TU 1381-068-00186654–2016 such that the special-purpose structures made from electrowelded straight-seam pipe will operate reliably. © 2016, Allerton Press, Inc.

The fundamental technical specifications on continuous-cast boiler-steel billet are outlined. The basic parameters of the production technology proposed for continuous-cast steel 20 and steel billet (diameter 150–550 mm) are presented, as well as test data for experimental melts of the steel. An analytical method is proposed for calculating the shaping parameters of thick sheet in the production of large-diameter pipe. This method is considered in several stages: formulation of a geometric model of the blank and the tool; numerical calculations; selection of the algorithm; and analysis of the results. Comparison of calculated and experimental shaping parameters for sheet used in the production of different types of large-diameter pipe reveals good agreement. The proposed method is recommended for calculating the shaping parameters in the production of large-diameter pipe and the setup so as to minimize the defects due to the geometry of the press. © 2014 Allerton Press, Inc.

A new production technology for centrifugally cast 04Х14ТЗР1Ф boron-steel has been developed. In addition, technology has been developed for the production of hot-rolled 290 × 12 mm pipe from such blanks on a TPU 8-16″ system with Pilger mills and for the conversion of such pipe to hexahedral pipe blanks (dimensions 257 +2/–3 × 6 +2/–1 × 4300 +80/–30 mm). The hexahedral pipe blanks produced by this means meet the requirements on the geometric dimensions, mechanical properties, and intercrystallite corrosion in Technical Specifications TU 14-3-1630–89 for the manufacture of racks used in holding tanks at nuclear power plants and in spent-fuel transportation. © 2016, Allerton Press, Inc.

The quality of welded pipe (diameter 508–1420 mm; wall thickness 8–48 mm) of strength class up to K80 (X100) is investigated. Plastic shaping is simulated, with quantitative estimation of the stress–strain state of thick-walled pipe blanks in TESA 1420 presses during edge bending and stepwise shaping. The corresponding computer program permits calculation of the setup of the equipment and determination of the geometric parameters of the pipe blank specified in the standards. Theoretical results are presented for a range of large-diameter pipe produced on the TESA 1420 system. © 2016, Allerton Press, Inc.

The effect of the initial microstructure of low-alloy tube steel 13KhFA on its mechanical properties after quenching from the intercritical temperature range (ICR) has been studied. It has been established that the maximum impact toughness KCV-80 is achieved in the case of the initial quenched structure, and the lowest values correspond to the initial annealing. The dependences of the KCV-80 on the temperature of the second quenching for these initial states are fundamentally different as well. © 2014 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

Effect of parameters of heat treatment of steel 20 microalloyed with vanadium on its microstructure and mechanical properties has been studied. It has been shown that the normalization performed before quenching from the intercritical temperature range and high-temperature tempering lead to the formation of an inhomogeneous microstructure with a preferred distribution of cementite particles near the boundaries of ferrite grains. The formation of such a microstructure is accompanied by a decrease in the cold resistance. © 2010 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
