In this study, High Impedance Surface (HIS) structures are used to reduce the interaction between a wireless antenna and its user. Especially, T-Slot HIS structure is designed for 1.8-GHz-band wireless products. The performance of HIS is investigated by the reflection phase method. The new test method is also proposed to verify the performance of HIS by using Arch method. In the experiment, the high performance of T-Slot HIS added monopole antenna and other electromagnetic protective sheets is evaluated and verified in view of radiation pattern, Total Radiated Power (TRP), and Specific Absorption Rate (SAR). © 2013 IEEE. Gallium arsenide (GaAs) has both high saturated electron velocity and high electron mobility, making it useful as a semiconductor material in a variety of applications, including light-emitting diodes (LEDs), integrated circuits (ICs), and microwave appliances. A side effect of the use of gallium (Ga) is the production of a relatively large amount of hazardous waste. This study aimed at the recovery of Ga and arsenic (As) from GaAs waste using hydrometallurgical methods involving leaching and coagulation and a dry annealing process that involves annealing, vacuum separation, and sublimation by heating. Our research has shown that GaAs can be leached using nitric acid (HNO3) to obtain 100% Ga and As with a leaching solution at pH 0.1, with subsequent adjustment of the leaching solution to pH 3 with sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Another method used a leaching solution at pH 2, then adjusting to pH 11 using NaOH. Ferric hydroxide (FeO(OH)) was added at 90°C after NaOH was added to the leaching solution. At pH 2 and 11, 55.5 and 21.9% of the As could be removed from the hazardous waste, respectively. The Ga could also be precipitated. When GaAs powder was heated to 1000°C over 3h, 100% As removal was achieved, and 92.6% of the Ga was removed by formation of 99.9% gallium trioxide (Ga2O3). Arsenic was vaporized when the temperature was elevated to 1000°C, allowing arsenic trioxide (As2O3) to condense with 99.2% purity. The Ga2O3 powder produced was then dissolved and electrolyzed, allowing for 95.9% recovery of Ga with a purity of 99.9%. © 2012 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim. Source

This study takes an electronic company as example to enhance its supply chain management by applying concepts and guidelines from Supply Chain Council (SCC) as well as business intelligence tools. The company's Supplier Performance Management System (SPMS) was first examined by in-depth interviews with its users under the framework of Information Systems Success Model. Data collected through the interviews was under principles of case study research methods, and then was analyzed by Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) to get systematic, organized and insightful results. Based on these results, the SPMS was modified. The appropriateness of the Information System Success Model as well as system improvement was well validated. © 2011 ACADEMY PUBLISHER. Source

This paper presents a novel adaptable 4-moduli set {2n+k, 2 n+1, 2n - 1, 22n+1}. It offers diverse dynamic ranges (DRs) from 25n - 2n to 25n+k - 2 n+k that are used to conquer the over-range issue in RNSapplication hardware designs. The proposed adaptable set possesses the coarse parameter n and fine parameter k. It not only has better parallelism and larger dynamic range (DR) than the existing adaptive 3-moduli sets, but also holds more sizable and flexible than the general 4-moduli sets with single parameter. For the adaptable R-to-B conversion, this paper first derives a fast reverse converting algorithm based on Chinese Remainder Theorem (CRT) and then presents the efficient converter architecture. From the experimental results, the proposed adaptable converter achieves better hardware performance in various DRs. Based on TSMC 0.18 μm CMOS technology, the proposed converter design is implemented and its results get at least 20.93% saving of Area-Delay-Power (ADP) products on average when comparing with the latest converter works.
