Extraction of microamounts of cesium by a nitrobenzene solution of hydrogen dicarbollylcobaltate (H+B-) in the presence of polypropylene glycol PPG 425 (L) has been investigated. The equilibrium data have been explained assuming that the complex species HL+ and CsL+ (L = PPG 425) are extracted into the organic phase. The values of extraction and stability constants of the cationic complex species in nitrobenzene saturated with water have been determined. © 2010 Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary.

The Nuclear Research Institute Rez has been a leading institution in all areas of nuclear R&D in the Czech Republic since it was established in 1955. After more than 50 years of activities in the field, there are some environmental liabilities that need to be remedied. The remediation of old environmental liabilities concerning the Nuclear Research Institute is the only ongoing decommissioning project in the Czech Republic. The nature of these environmental liabilities is very specific and requires special remediation procedures. The process begun in 2003 and is expected to be finished by 2014.

Extraction of microamounts of strontium and barium by a nitrobenzene solution of hydrogen dicarbollylcobaltate (H+ B-) in the presence of dibenzo-24- crown-8 (DB24C8, L) has been investigated. The equilibrium data have been explained assuming that the species HL+, HL2 +, ML2+, ML2 2+ and MHL2 3+ (M2+ = Sr2+, Ba 2+) are extracted into the organic phase. The values of extraction and stability constants of the complexes in nitrobenzene saturated with water have been determined. It was found that the stability constants of the cationic complex species BaL2+ and BaL2j 2+ in the considered nitrobenzene medium are somewhat higher than those of the corresponding complexes SrL2+ and SrL2 2+. © 2010 Akadémiai Kiadó Budapest Hungary.

Extraction of microamounts of europium and americium by a phenyltrifluoromethyl sulfone (FS 13) solution of hydrogen dicarbollylcobaltate (H+B-) in the presence of octyl-phenyl-N,N- diisobutylcarbamoylmethyl phosphine oxide ("classical" CMPO, L) has been investigated. The equilibrium data have been explained assuming that the complexes HL+, HL+ 2, ML2 3+, ML3 3+ and ML4 3+ (M3+ = Eu3+, Am3+) are extracted into the organic phase. The values of extraction and stability constants of the cationic complex species in FS 13 saturated with water have been determined. It was found that the stability constants of the corresponding complexes EuL n 3+ and AmLn 3+, where n = 2, 3, 4 and L is "classical" CMPO, in water-saturated FS 13 are comparable. © 2009 Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary.

The equilibrium data have been explained assuming that the cations HL+, HL2 + ML2 3+ ML 3 3+ ML4 3+(M3+ = Eu 3+, Am3+) are extracted into the organic phase. The values of extraction and stability constants of the species in nitrobenzene saturated with water have been determined. It has been found that the stability constants of the corresponding complexes EuLn 3+ and AmL n 3+ where n = 2, 3, 4 and L is DPPEDO, in water saturated nitrobenzene are comparable. © 2009 Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary.
