A large aluminum alloy wheel rim for the vehicle was produced by the isothermal forging. During isothermal forging process, blank and mould keep the same temperature and constant strain rate to avoid the decrease of blank temperature during deformation process and cooled mould effects. Using throughout-hole extrusion and pre-producing blank, the required deformation rate can be realized through continuous reverse extrusion, greatly decreasing deforming force and eliminating the crack in wheel rim.

Polyaniline/carbonyl iron powder (PANI/CIP) composites with core-shell structure were synthesized via in situ polymerization in aqueous solution of polyvinylpyrrolidon (PVP). The micromorphology, structure, and microwave absorbing property of the PANI/PVP/CIP composites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and vector network analysis. And, the modified mechanism of PVP on polymerization was discussed. The research showed that the presence of PVP was conducive to not only dispersion of CIP but also the formation coated well with PANI. PANI/CIP composites that were decorated by PVP have obviously improved on wave absorbing property compared with the composites which were synthesized without PVP. With the concentrations of 10 wt% PVP, the PANI/PVP/CIP composites show best microwave absorption, which the minimum reflection loss (RL) was -26.4 dB at 38.1 GHz and the corresponding thickness was 0.9 mm; for a thickness of 1.1 mm, an RL exceeding -10 dB was obtained in the frequency range of 27.6-39.0 GHz. The polyaniline/polyvinylpyrrolidone/carbonyl iron powder (PANI/PVP/CIP) core-shell composites were prepared by in-situ polymerization in the PVP aqueous solution using toluenesulfonic acid (TSA) as dopant and ammonium persulfate (APS) as oxidant. The PANI/PVP/CIP was systematically investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), FT-IR spectroscopy, electrochemical workstation, thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) and vector network analyzer. The results showed that the PANI/PVP can dramatically improve corrosion resistance of CIP. Compared with pure CIP, the PANI/PVP/CIP composites exhibited better impedance match and excellent microwave absorption properties. The reflection loss was found to <-10 dB in the 27.3-39.5 GHz range at thickness of 1.1 mm, and the minimum reflection loss of -15.28 dB was observed at 29.47 GHz with a matching thickness of 1.2 mm. A possible mechanism of the improved microwave absorption properties of the core-shell structure was obtained. © 2014 Elsevier B.V.

Effects of deformation temperature, strain rate and strain on microstructure of Ti8LC alloy were investigated by thermal simulation testing. The results indicate that microstructure and properties of the alloy are closely related to the deformation temperature. The alloy is composed of two-state structure with better comprehensive properties with temperature lower than 1000°C , while it is composed of lamellar structure with a higher strength and a lower elongation with temperature more than 1000°C. Based on considering the deformation forces during formation, strain rate of the alloy should keep a rational range. Meanwhile, with 40%°60% deformation rate, alloy exhibits acceptable properties and microstructure.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of an AZ61 Mg alloy during cyclic closed die forging (CCDF) were studied. The mechanisms of grain refinement are discussed. The results show that the average grain size decreased with increasing number of CCDF passes; After 6 CCDF passes, the initial grain size of 152 μm decreased to about 16·5 μm, and the billet had a uniform microstructure. The grain refinement occurs mainly by continuous dynamic recrystallisation. With increasing numbers of CCDF passes, both the tensile strength and the elongation to failure of the alloy are significantly enhanced. © W. S. Maney & Son Ltd. 2013.
