Based on field survey and an analysis of relevant data, the authors preliminarily analyzed geological features of the Qiongzhusi Formation and characteristics of Mo (Ni) mineralization in black rock series, made a tentative prognosis of the Mo (Ni) ore-searching prospect in the black rock series of Qiongzhusi Formation in southeastern Yunnan, and also made a tentative discussion and analysis of the Mo, Ni ore-searching orientations, the correlation between the Niutitang Formation and the Qiongzhusi Formation, the epigenetic variation of the Mo (Ni) deposits, and the ore-forming epoch of the polymetallic deposits in black rock series. It is held that the ore-searching orientations for Mo (Ni) polymetallic deposits in black rock series of the Qiongzhusi Formation should be concentrated on Malong-Qilin of Qujing-Zhanyi-Huize-Qiaojia (in NS direction)-Yongshan and Zhenxiong in Yunnan-northwestern Guizhou (in NE, NEE directions). The preliminary estimation shows that the Mo, Ni metallic prospective resource quantity of the black rock series in the Qiongzhusi Formation of central and eastern Yunnan Province should be in excess of one million tons.

Black rock series and the prospecting for black-rock-series-type ore deposits have currently become one of the hotspots in the field of geology. On the basis of collecting data and field geological survey, the authors comprehensively analyzed the distribution and characteristics of the Cambrian black rock series in Yunnan Province, systematically studied their ore-bearing potential and, on such a basis, considered that they have the favorable metallogenic geological conditions and spaces in search for molybdenum, nickel polymetallic ore deposits. The key areas for ore-prospecting are also indicated. By further working, it is hopeful to find out multiple ore deposits with a certain size and realize ore-prospecting breakthrough. The results obtained by the authors are of realistic reference and guiding significance in search for the Cambrian black-rock-series-type ore deposits in Yunnan Province.
