Based on the description of geological characteristics of the Kongshawan porphyry gold deposit in Laos, a study of its genesis and a comparison with other ore deposits, the authors have found that this gold deposit are quite similar to the Beiyu porphyry gold deposit in Heqing County of Yunnan Province in such aspects as the genesis and the styles of rock-controlling and ore-forming structures. In combination with the preliminary exploration results, the author holds that there exists broad prospect in search for porphyry gold deposits in this area, and the study of this gold deposit is of great significance. The tin polymetallic deposit in the Nuoba ore district of Wa State, Myanmar, is a medium-size tin deposit discovered in the 2nd Special Zone in eastern Myanmar. In the ore deposit, tin grade is relatively high and there exist such associated nonferrous metals as lead and zinc. The ore deposit is a typical high-medium temperature hydrothermal veinlike deposit. The ore bodies are strictly controlled by regional nearly NS-trending and nearly EW-trending faults. This paper describes geological characteristics of the tin deposit in Nuoba ore district, and makes an integrated analysis of this deposit in the aspects of regional strata, structure, wall rock alternation, ore types and ore-controlling factors. Lateritic nickel deposits are a kind of surface weathering curst type deposits formed by laterization of Ni-bearing basic-ultrabasic bodies, characterized by relative concentrative distribution of ore deposits, large deposit size, simple exploration type and obvious ore-prospecting criteria. The ore-forming environment, metallogenic conditions and geological characteristics are summarized briefly in this paper. Based on examples of prospecting and exploration for lateritic nickel deposits conducted by No. 308 Geological Party of Yunnan Nonferrous Metals Geological Bureau under the guidance of the "go out" policy, the authors systematically studied and summed up the prospecting, exploration and evaluation methods for lateritic nickel deposits, and put forward the "three-phase-and-five-step" prospecting and exploration procedure, effective prospecting means and rapid exploration and evaluation model. The problems related to the exploration and evaluation of lateritic nickel deposits are also discussed in this paper. Source

Based on the data available concerning the ore-controlling factors, the metallogenic-ore-controlling model, and the element zoning regularity of the Gejiu ore district, in combination with the present situation of ore exploration in the ore district, the authors point out three major directions for further ore-prospecting work at the depth of the Gejiu ore district, i.e., the depression structure of the granite, the depression or 'carinate' relief structure of the granite at the depth, and the second-order relief of the granite. The major target areas, important target areas and common target areas for ore-prospecting work in five major ore fields of eastern Gejiu ore district as well as in the southern area are also delineated. The lateritic nickel deposit is the product of the weathering of ultrabasic rocks. In the ore body, there exist relict accessory minerals of the original ultrabasic rocks, such as chromite, titanochromite, vanadic ilmenite, and ilmenite, whereas weathering has formed minerals like hematite, limonite, nickel silicate, Co-bearing lithiophorite, and potash psilomelane. All these minerals have caused the ores to become vary characteristic "natural alloy ores" with abundant Fe, Cr, Ni, Co and V. In addition, as the ore deposits are characterized by large size, shallow burial and easy exploration and opencasting, they have been gradually explored and utilized in large scale and have become the important exploitation objects for nickel materials. Exemplified by nickel deposits in Konawe area of Indonesia, this paper has tentatively made an analysis and summarization of the formation mechanism and prospecting methods for this kind of ore deposits.
