In the Yecheng County, there exists a set of coal-bearing sandy conglomerate formation in the Mazha tectonic melange of West Kunlun. Shaanxi Geological Investigation Institute divided this formation into three units in the 1 : 250000 regional geological survey, i. e. Triassic (T, non-layered), Triassic Sailiyakedaban Group (TS), and early-middle Jurassic Yarkant Group (J1-2Y). These clastic rocks were mainly intermountain molasses formed by orogenesis, but the contacts between all strata were faults. Except for the incomplete top and bottom, the sedimentary sequence and age of all strata were also without knowledge. By the measurement and analysis on the clastic rocks, and according to the rock assemblages and biostratigraphic characteristics, this set of coal-bearing sandy conglomerate can be redefined as early-middle Jurassic Yarkant Group which can be further divided into three units from the bottom to the top: The Shalitashi Formation (J1s), Yangye Formation (J2y) and Targa Formation (J2t). They were fluvio- lacustrine strata and sedimentary response to the early-middle Jurassic orogenesis in the tectonic melange belt of West Kunlun.

South and north boundary faults of the Mazha tectonic melange belt have obvious deformation and toughness. Through field regional geological survey, the author aimed to establish a new understanding of the mixed boundary fault zone, and found that the north and south boundary faults have multiple periods of tectonic features of early ductile shear and late brittle activities. The early ductile shear developed a lot of mylonitization and asymmetry rotated porphy- roclast phenomenon. Through the petrochemical analysis on north boundary fault arc volcano rock, it is concluded that the widespread magmatite in Mazha tectonic melange belt formed in the island arc tectonic environment on the edge of the plate.

Through field profile measuring, sedimentary facies signs identification, thin section authentification and grading analysis, we studied the categories and features of sedimentary facies of Upper Triassic Goulushankecuo Formation. The results show that the Goulushankecuo Formation is a Delta-Neritic shelf facies system. Based on clasolite petrographic study, the statistics from provenance analysis show that the sedarenite of Triassic Goulushankecuo Formation in workspace are mainly feldspathic litharenite and lithic quartz sandstone. Lower textural and compositional maturity indicates a rapid accumulation of sediments, which is a characteristic of nearby provenance. By detrital composition analysis, it is revealed that the provenance of Upper Triassic Goulushankecuo Formation came from recycled orogen.
