In general, "derailment coefficient Q/P" which is an index to evaluate the running safety is commonly measured by the specially instrumented wheelsets so-called "PQ wheelsets". The derailment coefficient "Q/P" has the same meaning as the European expression of derailment coefficient "Y/Q". From the view point of the running safety assessment, the derailment coefficient should be measured every day, but PQ wheelsets cannot be applied to the commercial train in terms of the durability. Tokyo Metro introduced PQ monitoring bogies equipped with non-contact gap sensors into commercial lines from 2009. The bogie solves the problem of PQ wheelsets and enables continuous measurement of derailment coefficients during service operations. As one of the advantages of continuous measuring of derailment coefficients on commercial lines, the safety assessment based on the data of all curves on these commercial lines can be conducted every day. Furthermore, a large scale data in a long period gives substantial knowledge for safety assessment. In this paper, some examples to assess running safety utilizing data obtained by PQ monitoring bogies are mentioned. And, the analysis tool to treat a large scale data in efficient is mentioned. The daily and monthly changes of the derailment coefficient and some other analysis are introduced to demonstrate the effectiveness of the system. © Civil-Comp Press, 2016. Source
