We used 140 passive flight interception window traps for survey of alleculines in tugai forests of the Almaty region in Kazakhstan. Traps were set on Fraxinus sogdiana (Bunge, 1854), Populus diversifolia (Schrenk, 1842), P. pruinosa (Schrenk, 1845), and Elaeagnus angustifolia (Linnaeus, 1753), which are the main tree species of tugai forests. Two species of alleculines were captured: Mycetochara flavipes (Fabricius, 1792) and Steneryx dejeani (Faldermann, 1836). Mycetochara flavipes significantly prefers areas of the tugai forests with dominancy of Elaeagnus angustifolia. Faunistic data for both species are given. Mycetochara flavipes was recorded as a new species and genus for the territory of Kazakhstan. © TÜBİTAK.

The fauna of Iranian Alleculinae is summarized in this paper. Seventy species from 12 genera are reported: the subtribe Alleculina Laporte with 4 genera and 18 species: Hymenalia Mulsant (7 species), Hymenophorus Mulsant (3 species), My-cetocharina Seidlitz (6 species), Prionychus Solier (2 species); the subtribe Gonoderina Seidlitz with 3 genera and 6 species: Gonodera Mulsant (1 species), Isomira Mulsant (4 species), Pseudocistela Crotch (1 species), the subtribe Mycetocharina Gistel with a single genus and 3 species: Mycetochara Berthold (3 species) and the tribe Cteniopodini Solier with 4 genera and 43 species: Cteniopus Solier (5 species), Omophlina Reitter (2 species), Omophlus Dejean (32 species) and Podonta Solier (4 species). Nine species are newly recorded for the fauna of Iran: Hymenalia atronitens (Fairmaire, 1892), Mycetocharina rufotestacea Reitter, 1898, Prionychus asiatica (Fairmaire, 1892), Isomira nitidula (Kiesenwetter, 1861), Mycetochara ocularis Reitter, 1884, Cteniopus impressicolis Fairmaire, 1892, Omophlus afghanus Muche, 1965, Omophlus schmidi Mnche, 1965 and Podonta elongata Ménétriés, 1832. In a study of old hollow oaks in southern Turkey, a new species from genus Mycetochara (subgenus Emocharis) was found. The species Mycetochara mersinica Novák sp. nov., are presently described, illustrated and compared with other species from the region.

A new species of comb-clawed beetle, Allecula suberina Novák sp. nov., is described, illustrated and compared with all western Palaearctic species. The new species is probably saproxylic, as are other species in the genus, because all specimens were collected by traps set within or near tree cavities on old hollow cork oaks (Quercus suber). Four new species of the genus Socotralia Novák, 2007 from Socotra Island (Yemen) are described: Socotralia montana sp. nov., S. intermedia sp. nov., S. reitteri sp. nov. and S. vybirali sp. nov. A key to all seven known species of the genus is provided. The genus Alogista Fåhraeus, 1870 is reported from Socotra for the first time.


Pseudocistela hajeki sp. nov. from Iran is described and illustrated, and a key to the West Palaearctic species of the genus Pseudocistela Crotch, 1873 is provided. Pseudocistela ceramboides serrata (Chevrolat, 1844), syn. nov., is a new synonym of P. ceramboides (Linnaeus, 1758).
