This paper demonstrates a promising and low-cost method for fabricating PZT nano-dot array by using sol-gel template method combined with laser interference lithography. ZrO 2 template with the pitch of 1 lm is firstly fabricated by sol-gel method and laser interference with a 325 nm He-Cd laser. Afterwards, PZT nano dot array with diameter of 500 nm and thickness of 20 nm is prepared on the ZrO 2 template. Atomic force microscope results show that the PZT nano dot array is uniform and highly ordered. Ferroelectric properties of PZT nano dot array are in situ measured through online-operation of TF analyzer and AFM. A ferroelectric hysteresis loop isobtained for the PZT nano dot. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

In order to improve the layer structure, disperse state and the surface morphology of the montmorillonite, myristyltrimethyl ammonium bromide is used as organic intercalating cations to modify sodium montmorillonite in the supercritical CO2. The effects of reaction pressure and washing method on intercalation are investigated. The sample is characterized with TG, XRD, SEM and BET. The result shows that a better intercalating effect can be achieved and the organic nano-montmorillonite can be successfully obtained under the following conditions: washing first by water and then by ethanol, 20 MPa of reaction pressure, the fixed reaction temperature and the amount of reagents. The basal spacing of the obtained amine intercalated montmorillonite can increase from 1.31 nm to 1.70 nm. Some tactoid structures still remain in all processed nano-clay samples, but the large platy and ellipsoidal structures can be separated into smaller tactoids, and the morphology of scCO2-MMT become loose.

Monodisperse polystyrene(PS) microspheres with different sizes, 2.05-9.03 μm, were prepared through dispersion polymerization. The effect of monomer concentration, solution polarity, initiator dosage and stabilizer dosage on the particle size and size distribution of the PS microspheres were studied. Under the appropriate conditions of mass fraction of styrene(St) monomer 28%-37%, disperse medium(ethanol-water) polarity 4.5-5.2, mass ratio of initiator azodiisobutyronitrile to St 0.03-0.05, mass ratio of stabilizer polyvinylpyrrolidone to St 0.3-0.8, reaction time 24 h and temperature 75°C, the PS microspheres with good monodispersion, low dispersion coefficient(less than 0.05) and large particle size could be prepared.

With the aim to obtain the hysteresis loops of the nano scale ferroelectric thin films, we developed an experiment method for the hysteresis loops of PZT film samples by online-operation of TF analyzer and atomic force microscope. The results indicated that the technique could be applied to characterize the hysteresis loops. The hysteresis loops of the PZT thin films were non-uniform, and the obtained polarization was much higher in the absence of top electrode.

Particle morphologies and particle size distributions of polyvinylchloride(PVC) paste resins made by different production methods were investigated by scanning election microscopy (SEM) and laser particle size analyzer. And the effect and mechanism of these PVC paste resins on viscosity and stability of corresponding PVC plastisols were also discussed in detail. The results show that the PVC paste resins made with micro-suspension method, seed micro-suspension method, seed emulsion method and hybrid method have the lowest, secondary, tertiary and largest viscosity respectively. In addition, the results reveal that corresponding PVC plastisols composed of PVC paste resins with seed micro-suspension method possesse the optimum stability, and the secondary with micro-suspension method as well as seed emulsion method, the most inferior with hybrid method.
