A method for detecting albumin based on a colorimetric assay and a system thereof are disclosed. Gold nanoparticles are added into the sample preparing device having a sample without spectroscopic tags, wherein the sample without spectroscopic tags is formed as the alkaline solution to avoid the interference substances adhering on the gold nanoparticles. The gold nanoparticles are concentrated by using the microfluidic concentrator with the circular ion exchange membrane by applying an external electric field across two electrodes. The image of the concentrated gold nanoparticles is captured by the image capturing device for measuring the saturation intensities of the image, wherein there is a relation between the saturation intensities and the concentration of the albumin in the sample without spectroscopic tags. The concentration of the albumin of the sample without spectroscopic tags is obtained by the relation and the measured saturation intensities.

A laser headlight optical module is disclosed herein and comprises a laser light source, a convex lens, a substrate, a mirror set, supporting rods, and a driving member. The laser light source generates a laser light and the convex lens is located at a transmitting path of the laser light generated from the laser light source and configured to focus the laser light. Yellow fluorescent powders are coated on the substrate. The mirror set is located at a transmitting path of the laser light reflected from the substrate with the phosphor layer. The supporting rods are located behind the mirror set to support the mirror set. The driving member is located behind the mirror set and connected with the supporting rods. The driving member drives the supporting rods to change a light reflective surface of the mirror set to vary an optical field.

A double nut ball screw capable of sensing preload includes a screw rod, two nuts, a connection key, multiple balls, a deformable annular platform having a U-shaped cross section with a bottom wall portion and two sidewall portions integrally connected with two opposite lateral sides of the bottom wall portion, and an annular force sensor mounted on the bottom wall portion of the deformable annular platform and located between the two sidewall portions. The deformable annular platform has a protruded portion located at the outer surface of the bottom wall portion opposite to the force sensor, and is disposed in the gap between the two nuts and wedged between two mating surfaces of the two nuts with the distal ends of the sidewall portions abutted against the mating surface of one nut and the protruded portion abutted against the mating surface of the other nut.

Usually reservoir computing shows an exponential memory decay. This letter investigates under which circumstances echo state networks can show a power law forgetting. That means traces of earlier events can be found in the reservoir for very long time spans. Such a setting requires critical connectivity exactly at the limit of what is permissible according to the echo state condition. However, for general matrices, the limit cannot be determined exactly from theory. In addition, the behavior of the network is strongly influenced by the input flow. Results are presented that use certain types of restricted recurrent connectivity and anticipation learning with regard to the input,where power law forgetting can indeed be achieved. © 2015 Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

A self-referencing localized plasmon resonance sensing device and a system thereof are disclosed. The reference optical waveguide element is modified with a noble metal nanoparticle layer. The sensing optical waveguide element is modified with a noble metal nanoparticle layer, which is further modified with a recognition unit. The incident light is guided into the reference and the sensing optical waveguide elements to respectively generate localized plasmon resonance sensor signals. The reference and the sensing optical waveguide elements respectively have a calibration slope. The processor utilizes the calibration slopes to regulate the second difference generated by detecting with the sensing optical waveguide element. The processor utilizes a difference between the first difference, which is generated by detecting with the reference optical waveguide element, and the regulated second difference to obtain a sensor response.

A manufacturing method of silatrane with thiol group and a preservation method thereof are disclosed. (3-Mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane and triethanolamine are reacted for a pre-determined time at a pre-determined temperature under nitrogen atmosphere in presence or absence of catalyst, and then a recrystallization process is performed with a solvent to obtain silatrane with thiol group of formula (1). Silatrane with thiol group is dissolved in an organic solvent to preserve the silatrane with thiol group.


A variable-tooth-thickness worm-type tool comprises a main body and a spiral blade distributed on the main body and featuring variable tooth thickness. The main body and the spiral blade are respectively described with a rack cutter coordinate system and a tool coordinate system. The vector parameters based on the rack cutter coordinate system are transformed into vector parameters based on the tool coordinate system so as to simulate the main body with a rack cutter and develop the spiral blade to have variable tooth thickness. Thus, when a gear blank is tooled, the distance between the centers of the tool holder and the workpiece holder can be set as a constant, and the feed in the radial degree-of-freedom can be neglected, with twists of tooth flanks being inhibited.

Disclosed is a microfluidic biosensing system including a processor, in which a Raman barcode database corresponding to at least one Raman spectrum signal is stored, a plurality of Raman barcode beads mixed with a target fluid and coupled to at least one target bioparticle in the target fluid, a microfluidic channel disposed to make the target fluid mixed with the Raman barcode beads flow therethrough, a light source disposed on the microfluidic channel, and a spectral detection device connected to the processor and disposed to correspond to the light source. The spectral detection device receives the Raman spectrum signal generated when the target bioparticle coupled with the Raman barcode bead is irradiated, and transfers the received Raman spectrum signal to the processor. The processor determines a type of the bioparticle(s) and calculates the number of bioparticle(s) by matching the Raman spectrum signal(s) to the Raman barcode database.

An electroencephalogram (EEG) analysis system is proposed for single-trial classification of motor imagery (MI) data in this study. Applying event-related brain potential (ERP) data acquired from the sensorimotor cortices, the system mainly consists of enhanced active segment selection, feature extraction, feature selection and classification. In addition to the original use of continuous wavelet transform (CWT) and Student's two-sample t-statistics, the 2D anisotropic Gaussian filter is proposed to further refine the selection of active segments. We then extract several features, including spectral power and asymmetry ratio, coherence and phase-locking value, and multiresolution fractal feature vector, for subsequent classification. Next, genetic algorithm (GA) is used to select features from the combination of above-mentioned features. Finally, support vector machine (SVM) is used for classification. Compared with without enhanced active segment selection, several potential features and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) on MI data from two data sets for 10 subjects, the results indicate that the proposed method achieves 86.7% average classification accuracy, which is promising in BCI applications. © 2013 World Scientific Publishing Company.
