According to special hydrodynamic features and suspended sediment transport in the tidal channel, considering the runoff, tidal current and other dynamic factors, a 3-D suspended sediment transport and sediment bed level changes mathematical model was proposed. The models used the unstructured triangular grids in the plane and σ-coordinate in the vertical. Triangular grid meshes could provide an accurate fitting of the irregular coastal boundary. Using finite volume method to discrete integral forms of the governing equations, the water and momentum balances were calculated on each control cell. Then the distribution of suspended sediment and scour-and-fill variation of Yamen Channel were calculated and simulated. Comparing the results of computed and the measured, it was concluded that the transport process of suspended sediment was simulated well. Finally, the distribution features of concentration fields were analyzed in plane and in vertical separately, and the variation of bed level was studied quantitatively.
