To investigate the value of CT and MRI in the diagnosis of retroperitoneal tumors in perirenal space. Retrospective analysis of characteristic for CT or MRI was made for 18 cases proved by pathology of surgery or biopsy. Six cases of perirenal lymphoma were confirmed. CT showed perirenal soft tissue mass of 4 cases with slight to moderate enhancement in arterial phase and progressive enhancement in venous and delayed phase. MRI showed 2 cases with isointense mass lesion on T1WI, low intense lesion on T2WI and progressive enhancement after contrast medium injection. Five cases of perirenal metastatic tumor were confirmed. CT (MRI) showed perirenal mass with uneven density (signal), uneven enhancement in arterial phase, adjacent vascular invasion or encasement and renal invasion. Three cases of perirenal liposarcoma were confirmed. CT (MRI) showed perirenal mass with fat density (signal), internal patchy soft tissue and partial enhancement of solid. Two cases of perirenal lipoma presented as mass of fatty density (signal). One case of paraganglioma presented as mass with inhomogeneous density and high enhancement in arterial phase. One case of gangliocytoma presented as perirenal cyst-solid mass with internal septation, adjacent vascular encasement, enhancement of septation and margin after contrast medium injection. CT and MRI can accurately localize retroperitoneal tumors in perirenal space and show relationship between mass and adjacent organ or vessel. CT and MRI have great value in the diagnosis of lipomatous tumors, lymphoma and part of neurogenic tumours.

To investigate the diagnostic value of CT and MRI to perirenal lymphoma and to enhance the ability of diagnosis and antidiastole. Retrospective analysis was employed to research the characteristic of CT and MRI for 19 patients with perirenal lymphoma confirmed by pathology. The morphous, milieu, change of density/signal and extent of intensification were analyzed. Nineteen cases of perirenal lymphoma were confirmed. Of 19 cases, 12 were detected by CT, 4 by MRI and 3 by CT and MRI. Image showed perirenal lump or lamellar soft tissue goiter, and the milieu was undefined and invaded into kidney substance, perirenal fascia and adrenal gland, which could circumvallate hilus renalis or retroperitoneal blood vessels but not invade it. The density was same in CT plain scan and was slight to moderate durative intensification which was uniformity in CT enhancement scanning. Enhancement of CT value was less than 20 HU or 40 HU in arterial phase. Miscellaneous or equal signal showed in T1WI and T2WI. Relucent high signal showed in DWI. Slight to moderate durative intensification which was uniformity or uneven showed in MRI. Typical image picture of CT and MRI is observed in perirenal lymphoma, which has significant value for diagnosis and antidiastole.
