In order to reduce abnormal vibration and noise of a domestic light bus, its finite element simulation and order tracking analysis of road test were performed to identify vibration sources, it was found that the rotation angular frequencies of the wheels and the first two natural frequencies of the body structure are overlapped, resonances occur, they lead to increased vibrations. To stagger the first two natural frequencies of the body and excitation frequencies, the thicknesses of sheet metal and skeleton of the body-in-white were chosen as the design variables, to raise the first two natural frequencies of the body-in-white was taken as the optimization objective, the optimization design and sensitivity analysis of the body-in-white was conducted. According to the modal sensitivity and mass sensitivity of sheet metal and skeleton, the optimal scheme was designed and test analysis was performed. Comparing the test results before and after optimization, the effectiveness and rationality of the optimization were verified. Source

An optimal model of multi-joint driveshaft arrangement for reducing the floor vibration caused by torsional vibration of driveshaft was presented. A calculation program and a simulation optimization program were worked out. The results of test validation and real car simulation show that the optimal design method is feasible, useful and adequately accurate. The program is convenient to use in analogous problems. In view of the defects of incapability in stiffness control and high dependence on mesh when spot-weld is modeled by rigid beam element as convention in vehicle finite element modal analysis, a scheme of modeling spot-weld by elastoplastic beam element instead is proposed. As an example, a finite element model for a light bus is built, on which modal analyses are performed with above-mentioned two kinds of beam element used respectively to represent spot-weld. The comparison of simulation results with test data show that using elastoplastic beam element in vehicle modal analysis to model spot-weld can get a result closer to test data, i.e. more accurate and effective. Vibration tests and modal analysis method were used to recognize the cause of steering wheel's shaking under idling operation of a car engine, it was found that the steering wheel's operating modal frequency is close to the engine's second order excitation frequency, so the resonance of the steering wheel appears. Two improvements including structural optimization and lightweight design of steering wheel were presented to solve this problem. The effectiveness and rationality of the improvements were verified through tests. Source
