The main objective of this paper is to develop a reliability model of a block-board manufacturing system in the plywood industry. The system discussed here undergoes partial as well as direct total failure. The model discussed here helps in calculating both time dependent and steady state availability under idealised as well as faulty Preventive Maintenance (PM). The PM rates and corrective repair rates are taken as arbitrarily distributed. Corrective repair of units is performed on the basis of preemptive resume priority discipline. The supplementary variable method is used to develop generalised expressions of state probabilities and system availabilities. Runge-Kutta method is used to calculate the availability of the system for transient state. Long run availability is carried out making use of software package Matlab 5.1. The tables for various parameters are given which are useful to the management for improving and planning the maintenance schedule. Copyright © 2010 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Vectorization is the most fundamental operation in interpretation of line drawings and document analysis. There are several reasons for converting image vectorization. Vector data is normally created from existing natural source image like photographs,scanned images. Choosing a best vectorization method that suits the needs of the system is very important. In general, good methods must preserve information like line geometry and intersection junction as far as possible. It is also important to analyze the error and find the accuracy of the result with respect to the original data. We have compared Skeletonization by Mathematical Morphology and Voronoi Diagrams with original image for vectorizing images. Root mean squre error is one of the good methods to analysis an error on original Image, Mathematical Morphology and Voronoi Diagrams. The addition of tris(α-thiopicoline anilide) with manganese(III) (TPAM) cobalt(III) (TPAC) and iron (TPAF) sensitized photo oxidative degradation of polyisobutylene (PIB) film. It was found that photo degradation of the polymer was affected by the kind of metal used. Ultraviolet and infrared absorption spectra have been employed to substantiate a mechanism of degradation process which does not involve abstraction of the polymer, but direct cleavage of the polymer backbone and presence of initiating radicals of TPAM, TPAC at the sites of scission. The chelate TPAF shows the best performance of a photo sensitizer by furnishing the chain initiating free radicals.
