Propagation of two coherent counter propagating transverse-magnetic (TM) electromagnetic waves in the absorbing plate in the waveguide of arbitrary cross section is considered. Fresnel formulas and analytical expressions for the power reflection, transmission and transmission interference coefficients are obtained. Some aspects of tunnel interference in the absorbing plate are discussed.

We propose two approaches to finding lower bounds in the traveling salesman problem (TSP). The first approach, based on a linear specification of the resolving function φ(t, y), uses a two-index TSP model in its solution. This model has many applications. The second approach, based on a nonlinear specification of the resolving function φ(t, y), uses a single-index TSP model. This model is original and lets us significantly reduce the branching procedure in the branch-and-bound method for exact TSP solution. One cannot use the two-index TSP model here due to the nonlinear specification of the resolving function φ(t, y). © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

We present several approximate algorithms for solving discrete optimization problems. For instance, for the minimum traveling salesman problem we establish bounds on the functionals for the symmetric problem with a value larger than (99.0–99.70) %; for the asymmetric problem, larger than (99.0–99.23) % (experimental estimates). Besides, we propose a different algorithm for the minimum traveling salesman problem that uses both two-index and single-index models. © 2015, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

The transition radiation of charged particle moving with a constant velocity perpendicular to the axis of regular waveguide filled with anisotropic magneto dielectric medium is considered. The wave equation and the analytical expressions for the transverse-electric (TE) filed are obtained. The energy of transition radiation of moving particle is calculated. Properties of transition radiation of charged particle in anisotropic magneto dielectric plate in a regular waveguide are considered at passing of charged particle perpendicular to the waveguide axis. Describing the transverse-magnetic (TM) field in different regions of the waveguide with help of the longitudinal component of the electric filed the wave equations and the analytical expressions for TM filed in the waveguide are found. The energy of transition radiation of moving charged particle is calculated using the obtained analytical expressions for TM filed and Poynting vector. The properties of transition radiation in the case of rectangular waveguide are analyzed. An analytical expression for the energy of transition radiation in the case when in the waveguide is placed a thin anisotropic magneto dielectric plate is calculated too. The frequency at which it is possible the Vavilov-Cerenkov radiation is found. On the Vavilov-Cerenkov radiation indicates the appearance of a sharp peak in the spectrum of the transition radiation. © 2015 IEEE.

The transition radiation of charged particle in a regular waveguide of arbitrary cross section filled with anisotropic magneto dielectric plate of finite length is considered. It is assumed that the charged particle crosses the plate perpendicular to the waveguide axis. The wave equations and the analytical expressions for the transverse-electric (TE) field in various regions in the waveguide are obtained. Taking into account the obtained analytical expressions for TE field and using the Poynting vector the energy of transition radiation of moving particle is calculated. The case of rectangular waveguide is considered and the energy of transition radiation is analyzed in this case. The analytical expression of the transition radiation of charged particle for the case of thin plate in the waveguide (the wavelength in the plate is much grater than the length of the plate) is found. The possibility of appearance of Vavilov-Cerenkov radiation is analyzed. The conditions under which occurs the Cerenkov radiation are found. The frequency of Cerenkov radiation is determined too.

Some estimates for the optimal quality criterion for the maximum travelling salesman problem are known. These estimates are ∼75 % for symmetric problems and ∼57 % for asymmetric ones. We propose new estimates: more than ∼ (99.0–99.7) % for symmetric problems and more than ∼ (99.0–99.23) % for asymmetric problems.
