The paper presents the results of a comparative analysis of parallel integration methods to solve engineering problems. We examine a problem of velocity and displacement data reconstruction from measured acceleration signal. Many engineering tasks such as vibration data acquisition from underground traffic, dwelling's vibrations due to wind pressure, earthquake data acquisition, etc. involve field measurements that are mostly performed using accelerometers. For engineering analysis purposes these records are to be integrated to get velocity and displacement. Since some of the measurements are quite long, moreover number of acquisition channels often exceeds dozen, we get a large amount of data to be analyzed fast. The best solution for the problem is parallelization of the integration algorithm, which involves using some modern techniques like OpenMP or GPU computing. This article shows the performance acceleration on different processors for OpenMP technology as well as performance acceleration for different GPU supported devices. Some aspects of algorithm implementations are discussed and future work suggested. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

This paper is devoted to the mathematical modeling of the low velocity impact of a solid body upon a thin elastic isotropic plate whose dynamic behavior is described by wave equations. As a method of analysis the ray method, the Laplace transform method for the viscoelastic impact and the method of spliced asymptotic expansions received for small times in the contact area and outside it are used. The local deformations in the contact area are taken into account in terms of two elastoplastic models (Aleksandrov-Kadomtsev and Kilchevskii models) and the viscoelastic Maxwell model. The stiffness of the Maxwell model's element is expressed in terms of the integral operator with the exponential kernel of relaxation and thus the relationship for the contact force takes the integral form with a function of relaxation. The results of the present investigation can be used for the projecting and analysis of the planar constructions and their elements to impact loading in civil engineering and automotive industry. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd. The paper discusses a method of optimization of thick-walled shells on the basis of the solution of inverse problems theory of elasticity of inhomogeneous bodies. There are discussed the terms of equal-stress and equal-strength structures. The notion of efficiency ratio of equal-strength shell as the ratio of limit loads in heterogeneous and homogeneous shells. Constructed the model of a multilayer shell of polymer concrete for which the coefficient of efficiency is close to 2. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications.


The distinctive paper is devoted to correct discrete-continual finite element method (DCFEM) of structural analysis based on precise analytical solutions of resulting multipoint boundary problems for systems of ordinary differential equations with piecewise-constant coefficients. Corresponding semianalytical (discrete-continual) formulations are contemporary mathematical models which currently becoming available for computer realization. Major peculiarities of DCFEM include universality, computer-oriented algorithm involving theory of distributions, computational stability, optimal conditionality of resulting systems and partial Jordan decompositions of matrices of coefficients, eliminating necessity of calculation of root vectors. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Management of construction deals with the issues of time organization of the construction process including logistical support, well-timed delivery of construction material, carcasses and goods to warehouses and construction sites. Thus, the modelling of process includes various problems based on the mathematical processes investigation. This paper is devoted to so-called indirect discrete-continual boundary element method of structural analysis. Operational formulation of the problem is given. Using fundamental operational relations of indirect approach after construction of corresponding fundamental matrix-function in a special form convenient for problems of structural mechanics and its application resolving set of differential equations with operational coefficients is obtained. The discrete-continual design model for structures with constant physical and geometrical parameters in one direction is offered on the basis of so-called discrete-continual boundary elements. Basic pseudodifferential operators are approximated discretely by Fourier series. Fourier transformations and Wavelet analysis can be applied as well. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

An inverse problem of elastic theory for inhomogeneous bodies is normally used for identification of the dependencies of a material's mechanical properties of coordinates where the stress state of the body will be specified. It is known that in thick-walled cylindrical or spherical shells under internal or external pressure the highest stresses are close to the inner surface of the shell. Several solutions of inverse problems (depending on the elastic modulus along the radius at which the equivalent stress in the shell will be constant) are obtained in this paper with the use of conventional strength theories. Corresponding shells could be called equal stress shells. If an investigator changes the elastic modulus of the material its mechanical properties change as well. It is shown that for some materials the investigator can create a model of an equal strength shell with an equivalent stress at each point, which is equal to the strength of the material. This paper is devoted to creating multi-layered shells in which the elastic modulus in each layer is determined by the results of solving inverse problems. © 2012 WIT Press.

Based on research performed by the author, a universal formal definition of the concept of Intelligent Buildings in terms of theoretical cybernetics, set theory, system analysis, functional analysis (measure theory, function theory) and mathematical logic is proposed for the first time. The definition includes the absolute and design levels of abstraction as well as the abstract definition of the Building Intelligence Quotient (BIQ) which can be extended to any aspect of the building sector such as applied theory, structural design practice and construction management practice. Relevant formal fundamentals of the proposed definitions are presented, and the prospects for the development of designated areas by means of technical regulation of these areas are discussed. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
