A key concept in the field of semiconductor spintronics is an electric field control of spins via the spin-orbit coupling (SOC) and the SOC strength governs efficiency of this control. We propose a new approach that allows the experimental determination of the Rashba SOC strength for ballistic InAs nanowires. The energy spectrum and ballistic transport of carriers through the nanowire with surface two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) in a homogeneous magnetic field are studied. A general formula for the linear-response one-dimensional ballistic thermopower is derived in the case of complex subband structure. The ballistic conductance and the thermopower are shown to reveal specific features due to strong SOC that allows us to propose a method for the SOC strength determination. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd. The article presents the theoretical basics of the transpositional grammar of the Russian language (as the special areas of the functional grammar), which serves as a mechanism for describing the subject of the transposition of the linguistic units from one class (or interclass semantic-syntactic category) to another (or others). The relation to the transposition of the grammar and vocabulary (word-formation) was displayed; a typology of the transpositional processes in grammatical structure of the Russian language was submitted, and above all, in the parts of the speech and inter part-of speech classes, grammatical categories and lexical-grammatical classes; general and specific objectives of the study types of transposition of the linguistic units were defined; the fragments of the description of the transition and syncretism of the language units were offered using the technique of opposition analysis and indexation. Abstract Theoretical studies on fabricating room-temperature superconductors are analyzed. A technique for obtaining such superconductors is proposed, based on results from previous experimental investigations. Abstract We constructed the Hamiltonian of spin-orbit splitting for carriers of a tubular electron gas in InAs nanowires. The spectral problem is solved using an exact numerical diagonalization. It is shown that the contribution of k-linear Dresselhaus-like spin-orbit (SO) coupling leads to renormalization of the so-called SO-gaps and appearance of anticrossings in subband spectrum. These features can be detected in ballistic transport. © 2015 Elsevier B.V.

The atomic structures of various isomers of free Ti N (N = 6-15) titanium clusters have been studied by molecular dynamics using the many-body interaction potential in the tight binding model. The following parameters of the cluster structure have been calculated: average bond length and energy, coordination number, and frequencies (probabilities) of their appearance. An increase in the cluster size N is accompanied by increased values of these parameters. It is established that the frequency of appearance of an isomer with a given N value increases with the bond energy. The most probable structures of clusters with N = 10-15 correspond to maximum values of the atomic structure parameters among all isomers of a given size. © 2014 Pleiades Publishing, Inc.

The structure of the particles deposited from the plasma arc discharge were studied. The flow of plasma spreading from the cathode spot to the walls of the vacuum chamber. Electric and magnetic fields to influence the plasma flow. The fractal nature of the particles from the plasma identified by small-angle X-ray scattering. Possible cause of their formation is due to the instability of the growth front and nonequilibrium conditions for their production - a high speed transition of the vapor-liquid-solid or vapor - crystal. The hypothesis of a plasma arc containing dust particles current sheets was proposed.

The applicability boundaries of the restoration method for the temporal shape of an optical signal having an intensity varying with frequency ω larger than the inverse lifetime of majority carriers are studied. Theoretical studies of distortions emerging upon the detection of modulated optical signals are performed. Parameters characteristic of a photodetector fabricated on the basis of Si with In recombination centers are used in the calculations. An increase in ω decreases the nonlinear, frequency, and phase distortions. The conclusions can be used to study periodic processes of another nature. © 2014, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

This study analyzes the current state of thermal light sources-incandescent halogen lamps that are highly intense light sources which enables them to occupy a niche in the modern lighting technology. It reveals the advantages and benefits of these light sources, describes their operating principles and classification. We have been studied the features of the tungsten-halogen cycle in the halogen lamps that is capable of preventing from blackening shell with the tungsten evaporating from the luminous element, keeping it clean and clear throughout the lamp life cycle, described the conditions and the course of the cycle and its efficiency, the principles of selecting the composition and pressure of the filling gas mixture in the production of the halogen lamps. The elements of gas mixture, the components of chemical reactions may be in atomic or molecular state and form various binary and ternary compounds that have influence on the tungsten-halogen cycle and heat processes in the lamp. The transfer processes of heat and mass in the halogen bulbs are in turn, connected with engineering, operational and design data of these lighting sources. It has been shown that the parameter optimization of the halogen lamps must comprise search for new constructive solutions, optimum filling mixtures, ways to reduce heat losses in the filling gas. We have determined the problem aspects of developing the halogen lamps and main tendencies in their study. One of the tendencies of improvement of these lighting sources is minimization of heat losses and transport rate of the filament element in active volume. We have formulated the problems and their possible solutions which will enable to make design of the incandescent halogen lamps of maximum cost-effectiveness. © Medwell Journals, 2016.

The theoretical and methodological aspects of an analysis of regional transport systems are studied, a comprehensive typology of transport systems at the regional and municipal levels is performed, and modeling of typological and evaluative synthetic characteristics of the transport network of the Republic of Mordovia is suggested. The comprehensiveness of the study results from the presence of various components of the territorial socioeconomic systems: production facilities, population, and the environment. The proposed approach is based on the creation of an integral index for aggregated information, which ranks and types the regions and regional transport systems to quantify the value of this index. We study the typological characteristics and properties of regions, the impact of the transport factor on their functioning, and the possibility of increasing regional competitiveness with efficient transport strategies, which may help to overcome regional depressiveness. The six basic types of transport systems of depressed regions are identified. With the case of the Republic of Mordovia, which has the same attributes of its transport network as most of the other studied regions, we carry out a typology of the networks at the municipal district level. The proposed modeling of typological and evaluative synthetic characteristics of the transport network of the Republic of Mordovia could be used to solve problems of road transport operations in the region, territorial planning, and the formation of regional development strategies. © 2015 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
