A kind of ceramic matrix cubic boron nitride (cBN) composite for bearing inner circle precision grinding was prepared by means of sintering process. Then, the composite microstructure and the element distribution at its interfaces were investigated by using a scanning electron microscope and electron probes, and the grinding performance was tested by using a bearing-internal grinder. The results show that (1) with the increase of sintering temperature, the composition diffusion depth of the composite at the interface increases slowly; (2) the thickness of the diffusion layer of the composite increases from about 3 μm to 6 μm as the temperature rises from 700℃ to 800℃; (3) the interfacial strength increases more rapidly than the ceramic matrix strength; and (4) at the sintering temperature of 750℃, the interfacial strength of the composite matches well with the ceramic matrix strength, and the composite shows a feed rate of 8 μm/r and the abrasion volume ratios of 310 ~ 370 when it is used to grind, which means that it is of high sharpness and excellent wear resistance. In addition, the wear, rupture, exfoliation of cBN and the fracture of ceramic matrix material occur after the grinding. ©, 2014, South China University of Technology. All right reserved.

The effects of the fillers on the performance of resin diamond abrasives were studied using orthogonal experiment, measuring the mechanical property and grinding performance of sample. Experimental results show that, under the condition that the contents of diamond, polyimide, chromium oxide is determined, when the volume fraction of silicon carbide powder is 30%, the volume fraction of alloy powder is 4%, and the volume fraction of cryolite is 4%, the grinding ratio of resin diamond abrasives reachs 2.286, which has good grinding performance and good mechanical property with high sharpness and wear resistance.

The morphologies and oxygen contents of diamond micropowders before and after sintering in air atmosphere, nitrogen atmosphere, and in air atmosphere with ceramic bonder were investigated. The effects of micropowder on the grinding performance of ceramic diamond wheel were studied. The results showed that oxygen content and performance of diamond micropowders were significantly affected by sintering process. The weight of diamond micropowders reduced by 5.2% after sintered in air atmosphere. The total, surface, and point oxygen contents of the diamond micropowders were 0.078%, 4.84%, and 2.00%, respectively, which were greatly higher than those sintered by the other two sintering processes. The grinding abrasion volume ratios for the wheel made from the diamond micropowders sintered in air atmosphere, nitrogen atmosphere, and air atmosphere with ceramic bonder were only 59.6%, 89.6% and 67.6% of that for the wheel made from the powders without sintering, respectively.

Sintering is the key to the performance of diamond products. Two kinds of sintering processes, namely continuous-hot pressing and traditional hot pressing, are studied by preparing saw blade samples with each of them. Results show that continuous-hot pressing has the advantages on preparation of diamond products, which does better in terms of density, performance stability and diamond-wrapped inlay ability. In addition, it can also decrease the power consuming and reduce emissions during preparation, which to some extent has a good effect in increasing energy efficiency and reducing emissions in the diamond product manufacturing industry.

The effects of grinding processing parameters on the internal surface roughness of the bearing were studied by orthogonal experiment. The parameter values were obtained based on the single factor experiments. The results showed that the effect of grinding process on the surface roughness can be scientifically evaluated by orthogonal experiment. This evaluation provides a reference for the adjustment of grinding parameters in the process of production, in order to achieve good grinding effect and high production efficiency.

Orthogonal experiment method was used to analyze the influences of the grinding parameters including linear speed traverse speed grinding depth and grinding path on surface roughness of cemented carbide in grinding with vitrified hond diamond wheel. Through the microscopic analysis cemented carbide snrlace quality and the interfering factor as discnssed , and the grinding parameterh waS alSO optimized. The results showed that the influence order of four parameters on surface roughness of cemented carbide was traerse speed > linear speed > grinding path > grinding depth. When traverse speed grinding depth and grinding path increased the workpiece surface roughness increased; is hen the linear speed increased , it effectively reduced the cemented carbide surface roughness. © 1994-2011 China Academic Journal Electronic Publishing House.
