Herein, we report the synthesis of two dihydroquinazolinone derivative 2-(2-Hydroxy-naphthalen-1-yl)-2, 3-dihydro-1H-quinazolin-4-one (1) and 2-(3-Methyl-thiophen-2-yl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-quinazolin-4-one (2) by using 2-aminobenzamide, 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 3-methyl thiophene-2-carboxaldehyde. The synthesized compounds were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR and its spectral, photophysical, intramolecular charge transfer characteristics were studied by absorption and emission spectroscopy. The synthesized compound exhibits significant changes in their photophysical properties depending on the solvent polarity. The observed bathochromic emission band and difference in Stokes shift on changing the polarity of the solvents clearly demonstrate the highly polar character of the excited state. The synthesized compounds were also studied by density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) to expose the reproducibility by computational means. © 2017 Springer Science+Business Media New York

The complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with dibenzoylmethane L-histidine (DBMH) have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic moment. UV-visible and IR spectra. Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes of DBMH were subjected to thermal analysis so as to understand their thermal stability and decomposition patterns. The kinetic parameters like activation energy E, frequency factor A, entropy of activation ΔS and order parameter (n) were calculated from the TG curves, using Coats-Redfern equation. The mechanism of decomposition has been established from thermogravimetric data. On the basis of present findings the relative thermal stabilities of the chelates can be given as NiL(H 2O)3 < CoL(H2O)3.

Benzoyl acetone-L-histidine was synthesized by refluxing benzoyl acetone with L-histidine. This benzoyl acetone L-histidine (BAH) was used to synthesize Mn(II) and Ni(II) complexes having metal to Iigand stiochiometry 1:1. The Iigand and metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, electronic absorption and IR absorption spectra. The magnetic nature of the complexes was established using Gouy's balance method. The XRD data was used to index the compound for orthorhombic system.
