A list of 20 species embracing 238 specimens of the family Scythrididae from the Turanian region is presented. The material was collected during 27-IV-21-V-2010 and 15-IX-11-X-2010 in Kazakhstan, and 17-VII-8- VIII-2010 in Kyrgyzstan. Seven new species are described: Bactrianoscythris fenestratella Nupponen, sp. n., Scythris angustibasella Nupponen, sp. n., S. astacoides Nupponen, sp. n., S. haverineni Nupponen, sp. n., S. polella Nupponen, sp. n., S. salinella Nupponen, sp. n. and S. trifurcella Nupponen, sp. n. Scythris turanica Nupponen, 2010 is synonymized with S. cirra Falkovitsh, 1969, syn. n. Seven species are reported as new to Kazakhstan and two as new to Kyrgyzstan. The known distribution range of each species is given.


Scythris stalagmitella Nupponen, sp. n. is described from the southern Ural region and Turkey. One male specimen was collected in Orenburg district, S Ural in September 2009. Three further specimens of the same species are known from old museum materials preserved in Copenhagen and Innsbruck. The external appearance of the moth and the male genitalia of the new species are illustrated.


A list of 28 species embracing 264 specimens of the family Scythrididae from the Turanian region is presented. The material was collected between 14/27-VII-2009 in Uzbekistan, and 29-IV / 18-V-2008 in southwestern Kazakhstan. Six new species are described: Scythris cramella Nupponen, sp. n., S. deserticola Nupponen, sp. n., S. karvoneni Nupponen, sp. n., S. reticulella Nupponen, sp. n., S. rotundella Nupponen, sp. n. and S. semifascia Nupponen, sp. n. The previously unknown females of Scythris angustella Nupponen, 2009, S. deresella Falkovitsh, 1969, S. falkovitshi Nupponen, 2009 and S. obliqua Falkovitsh, 1969 are described. Three species are reported as new to Uzbekistan, two as new to Kazakhstan and two as new to Tajikistan. The known distribution range of each species is given.


Ethmia ustyurtensis Nupponen, sp. n. is described on the basis of nine specimens from the Ustyurt range, Southwestern Kazakhstan. Faunistically significant records of thirteen little known species of the subfamily Ethmiinae from the former USSR are provided, with notes on their bionomy. E. zaguljaevi Kostjuk, 1980 is reported as new to Europe from the Ural Mountains. © Sociedad Hispano-Luso-Americana de Lepidopterología.


A list of 24 species embracing 803 specimens of the family Scythrididae from southern and western Kazakhstan is presented. The material was collected between 8-V / 5-VI-2011 and 7-IX / 26-IX-2011. Scythris aralensis Nupponen, sp. n. is described, as well as the previously unknown females of Falkovitshella mongholica (Passerin d'Entrèves & Roggero, 2006), Scythris karvoneni Nupponen, 2010, S. lycii Falkovitsh, 1969, S. sachkovi Passerin d'Entrèves & Roggero, 2006 and S. salinella Nupponen, 2011. Ten species are reported as new to Kazakhstan. The known distribution range of each species is given.


New records of 30 little known species of the family Scythrididae from the Palaearctic region are presented. Two new species are described from Spain: Scythris latilineella Nupponen, sp. n. and S. lobella Nupponen, sp. n. Taxonomic problems with females of Scythris aciella Bengtsson, 1997, S. felixi Bengtsson & Sutter, 1996 and S. nieukerkeni Bengtsson, 1989 are dealt with. The previously unknown females of S. martini Bengtsson, 1991, S. paelopyga (Staudinger, 1880) and S. pseudolocustella Passerin d'Entrèves & Vives, 1990 are described. The male genitalia of S. rubioi (Agenjo, 1962) are redescribed, and adults of S. paelopyga and S. rubioi are illustrated for the first time.
