Fifty-four 54 breast cancer patients, receiving tamoxifen, were enrolled into an evaluation of the status of the endometrium. Liquid-based cytology and immuno-cytochemical analysis were used for assessment. Our method proved viable in selective screening for differential diagnosis of endometrial pathology and cancer detection.

The aim of the study was to raise efficacy of combined treatment of stage II Hodgkin's disease by optimization of fractionation and volume of irradiation. It included 179 patients with involvement of supradiaphragmatic lymph nodes treated in 1986-2006. It was found that multi-fractionation was followed by lower frequency of relapse as compared with standard regimens as well as rates of early ones. The most efficient dosage was 30-36 Gy as far as frequency, term of relapse occurrence and recurrence-free survival were concerned.

Our paper presents the results of preclinical evaluation of the mitigating effect of Metrop GP on the acute toxicity and hepatotoxicity induced by paclitaxel and doxorubicin treatment using functional samples and biochemical and morphological techniques.

The paper evaluates effects of different methods of systemic intraoperative anesthesia on the dynamics of leukocytes following colonic resection in tumor patients. Lymphocytes levels rose on day 2 after operation in patients receiving non-selective purine receptor agonists (sodium adenosine triphosphate) as an intraoperative analgesic and were significantly higher than in controls treated with conventional drugs (p≤0.05).

At present, choice of treatment for skin melanoma depends on empirical data on efficacy of medication. Individual treatment may be promoted if certain markers of sensitivity to chemotherapy are evaluated. We studied frequencies of expression of marker sensitivity to fluoropyrimidin [(FPd) (-1)], TS(-) 0 and TS(-). TS(-1+) was reported in 36.1%. Sensitivity to platinum drugs [EPCC1 (-) -64.4%], taxotere drugs- [β=tubulin (-) -72.7%), cyclooxygenase inhibitors [COX2(+)] -8.9%, mutant tyrosokinase inhibitors [c=kit(+)] -21.4%, PDGFR=β (+) -35.5%. Marker expression in tumor tissue was heterogenous. Data on molecular-genetic characteristics of tumor may be used to individualize choice of drugs, dosage and to lower risk of toxicity. Use of cytostatics should be evaluated in clinic for their efficacy in skin melanoma with due consideration of prognostic markers.

We evaluated the potential of surgical treatment of patients with extensive tumor-related lesions of the chest. Combined resection of tumor together with different parts of the chest and plastic surgery aborted further development of grave complication and paved the way for subsequent antitumor therapy. Access to surgical treatment can be extended to more advanced cancer sufferers through plastic surgery, thus contributing to better quality of life and longer survival.

Cancer ruins the patient's daily routine and causes anxiety thus affecting adaptation. An analysis of past conversations gives a glimpse of psychological problems tormenting cancer patients. The paper gives a glimpse in adaptation at the crux of a crisis and evaluates the role and potential of anxiety which can help go through it.
