EVs and PHVs are about to start spreading due to growing environmental awareness. However, since significant electric power is required to charge these vehicles, it is not easy to install new charging facilities in the car park of an existing apartment building. Accordingly, we have developed a charge controller as a key device for realizing the provision of safe, secure and convenient charging services so that a user can reliably use charging services outside the house, even for EVs and PHVs, just like refueling a gasoline vehicle. A single charge controller can control multiple chargers and enables not only support of charge operations but efficient management of authentication/billing and charger operation through collaboration with EV charging cloud services. The evolution of cloud technology has led to a rapid expansion of the use of the cloud in enterprise systems. SaaS model services have previously been used in the non-mission critical domain such as in groupware. However, they are now expected to spread rapidly as the adopted model of enterprise mission critical systems. NEC has released "EXPLANNER for SaaS" by leading its competitors in developing high security and convenient administrative systems offering low cost and high speed that are required to support enterprises. The creation of M2M type solutions via the linking of sensor networks and IT services are needed for systems utilizing the environmental energies as well as for various kinds of monitoring systems. Since the requirements for the devices used in these systems are often similar or shared, it is expected that the efficient construction of many such systems will be enabled by applying a standard device platform that satisfies these requirements.
