Various 4-Arylazo-1, 3-benzenediamine (AABs) derivatives have been synthesized and polycondensed with hexamethylene diisocyanate (HMDI). The resultant poly (4-arylazo-1, 3-benzeneurea-hexamethylene)s (PABUs) have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and number average molecular weight (Mn) (Estimated by non-aqueous conductometric titration). Thermal properties of PABUs have been examined by thermogravimetric analysis.

Polyureas having different heterocyclic groups were reacted, respectively, with commercial epoxy resins, i.e., diglicidyle ether of bisphenol A and brominated DGEBA. The resultant polyurea-epoxy systems were designated as I (a-f) and II (a-f), respectively. All the polyurea-epoxy systems were characterized by FTIR spectral studies, thermogravimetric analysis and number average molecular weight, estimated by non-aqueous conductometric titration. The polyurea-epoxy systems were then mixed with appropriate amounts of DGEBA epoxy resin, monitored for differential scanning calorimetry, and, based on this, glass fiberreinforced composites were prepared. All the resultant laminates were characterized by physical and mechanical properties. © Springer Science+Business Media B.V. 2011.

The present invention is to provide a novel benzothiazole-type polymerizable dye containing a urethane bond. A series of monomeric dyes have been prepared by diazotization of various 2-aminobenzothiiazole and coupled with Resorcinol. The polymeric dyes have been prepared by polycondensation of monomeric dyes with hexamethylene diisocyanate (HMDI), and they are characterized by molecular weight, non-aqueous conductometric titration, thermogravimetry analysis, IR, visible spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The monomeric dyes have also been characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectra. The purity of all the dyes have been checked by thin layer chromatography, and their dyeing performance on nylon and polyester was assessed. The dyeing on polyester fiber had yellow, orange and pink shades with moderate to good light and wash fastness. Polymerizations of monomeric dyes with HMDI on dyed polyester have also been carried out. Color and dyeability of the polymeric dyes have been discussed by comparing them with their corresponding monomeric dyes. The percentage dye bath exhaustion and fixation on fiber have been found to be from good to very good. The dyeing of monomeric dyes showed very good color fastness properties, and their corresponding polymeric dyes showed excellent fastness to light, washing, perspiration, solvent resistance, and sublimation. © Springer Science+Business Media B.V. 2012.

Various 4-Arylazo-1,3-benzenediamine (AABs) dyes have been synthesized and polycondensed with Toluene 2,4-diisocyanate (TDI). The resultant polyureas (PUs) have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and number average molecular weight (Mn), estimated by non-aqueous conductometric titration. Thermal properties of PUs have been examined. Their dyeing performance on nylon and polyester gives yellow to orange shades with moderate to good light and wash fastness. Polymerization of AABs with TDI on dyed nylon and polyester has also been performed. The dyeing properties of simple AAB dyes were compared with the dyes polymerized on nylon and polyester. © 2012 Copyright Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
