Mahlo GmbH in Saal/Donau has introduced its innovative quality control system, Qualiscan QMS-12, which comprises of various types of sensor and scanning frames that offers monitoring options to meet requirements. The weight per unit area (square weight) of on-line products has been measured with Gravimat DFI and Gravimat FMX sensors. Qualiscan QMS-12 is available with various types of moisture sensor to suit specific requirements and aqualot HMF sensor that measures both low and high percentages of moisture retention. The quality control system is provided with calipro DML sensor that offers the option of either single-sided or non-contact double-sided measurement. The monitoring system has been designed individually in accordance with the requisite measuring range and desired accuracy. Qualiscan QMS-12 can handle a combination of up to six traverse frames on a single production line. The scanners are synchronized with each other when more than one frame is used so that each sensor takes measurements at the same point on the web.

The sensors used here are based on the principle of measurement by x-rays or isotopes. A single sensor or any combination of those available can be accommodated in the traverse assembly.
