In this paper we used different topological indices for modelling NMR chemical shift of carbinol carbon. A wide variety of indices like the Weiner (W), the Padmakar Iwan (PI), the Randic connectivity, ( 0χ, 1χ, 2χ 3χ), the Kier and Hall valence connectivity ( 0χ v, 1χ v, 2χ v, 3χ v) and the Balaban indices (J) were used for obtaining statistically significant model. Regression analyses of the statistically significant 6 models were proposed. The predictive power of these proposed models was discussed on the basis of crossvalidation parameters. The results indicate that the best model contains the Balaban, the Weiner and connectivity indices as the most appropriate correlating descriptors.

The QSAR calculations of biological activities like carbonic anhydrase inhibition, diuretic activity and lgP have been attempted on some sulphonamides using NMR chemical shift of the -SO2NH2 protons and a large set of topological indices: the Randic connectivity and the Balaban indices. Regression analysis shows excellent results in multiparametric modelling. Results indicate that NMR chemical shift can be successfully used for modelling carbonic anhydrase inhibition constant (pki) and diuretic activity (pC), but plays no part in modelling lipophilicity (lg P) of sulphonamides.

Seven Indian soybean varieties were studied for their in vitro response towards callogenesis and regeneration. The morphogenic response of three type of explants viz., root, cotyledon and hypocotyl of seven varieties was observed on MS basal medium fortified with different hormone combinations. Successful plant regeneration was achieved through organogenesis intervened by callus phase from the hypocotyl explants of the cultivar JS 76-205, a black seeded variety. MS medium with cytokinin BAP 4.44μM proved to be an ideal morphogenic medium for regeneration. Among all the three explants, cotyledons exhibited higher callusing efficiency than root and hypocotyl. The auxin NAA proved better than 2,4-D for callus induction. Variety JS 335 responded best as callogenesis and direct regeneration could be obtained from apical buds in the morphogenic medium combination.
