Two new structural isomers – 2,4-dimethyl-5-[methyl(phenylsulfonyl)amino]benzenesulfonyl chloride (1) and 2,4-dimethyl-3-[methyl(phenylsulfonyl)amino]benzenesulfonyl chloride (2) were synthesized by interaction of N-(2,4-dimethylphenyl)-N-methyl-benzenesulfonamide or N-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)-N-methylbenzenesulfonamide with chlorosulfonic acid. Both compounds have been structurally characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction at 100 K. The crystals of 1 are triclinic: space group P1¯, a = 8.1542(2), b = 11.0728(3), c = 11.2680(3) Å, α = 116.557(3), β = 95.155(2), γ = 108.258(2)°, V = 831.97(4) Å3, Z = 2, R = 0.0251 for 2429 reflections; the crystals of 2 are monoclinic: space group P21/c, a = 11.7428(2), b = 11.3518(2), c = 12.5886(2) Å, β = 93.659(2)°, V = 1674.66(5) Å3, Z = 4, R = 0.0269 for 2622 reflections. The structure of both isomers is organized as molecular crystals. These sterically hindered organic molecules are cross-linked into framework by means of hydrogen bonds of C[sbnd]H⋯O type (H⋯O distances are in range 2.27(2)–2.76(2) Å). The ab initio quantum-chemical calculations of an electronic structure of the isomeric molecules of 1 and 2 have been performed using the restricted Hartree-Fock method with a 6-31G* basis set. The calculated values of charge density concentrated on the electronegative atoms of the sterically hindered molecules are in good agreement with parameters of the intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The obtained data of the kinetic investigations of the substitution reactions in aqueous solution well correlate with stereo-chemical characteristics of the both molecules of the dimethyl[methyl(phenylsulfonyl)amino]-benzenesulfonyl chloride. © 2017

The asymptotic behavior of a modified discrete stochastic optimization procedure (SOP) in a Markov environment in an averaging scheme is investigated. Additional SOP optimization parameters are introduced and are used to investigate the behavior of fluctuations on increasing time intervals. The normalization-dependent form of the limit generator is established, and a modified discrete SOP is shown to be asymptotically normal when the introduced parameters assume certain values. © 2015 Springer Science+Business Media New York

Purpose: To determine the amount of pollution of the environment by fires and their impact on ecological safety, and to develop the methods of reduction of polluting emissions by reducing the time of free development of fire due to selection of the optimal route for fire-rescue units to the incident site.Methodology: Analytical mass transfer model was developed for determination of emission of toxic substances into the atmosphere during an indoor fire. Main parameters were simulated: the number of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrochloric, hydrocyanic acid, acrolein and nitrogen oxides entering the atmosphere during a fire. The optimization model was developed to select the route of the fire-rescue units to the fire location.Findings: Based on the integrated model of fire we have solved analytically the differential equation of material balance of toxic combustion products in an indoor fire. The results of calculation of emission using the mathematical model showed that as a result of fire in residential and administrative buildings a significant amount of toxic substances goes to the atmosphere. And the maximum surface concentration of some substances (hydrochloric acid) exceeds the short-term exposure limit. To reduce emissions we have developed a simulation model for selection of optimal route to the fire, which reduces the free development of fire and toxic emissions into the atmosphere.Originality: The analytical model allows us to assess the emissions of toxic substances into the atmosphere during an indoor fire adequately and optimize the model to reduce the emissions.Practical value: It was developed an algorithm and software for selecting optimal route for fire-rescue units the fire location based on the optimization model (on the example of the State Fire-Rescue Station Number 1 Galician Regional Department of the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations of Lvov).

Purpose. Development of optimization simulation model of optimal structural parameters of drive gearbox shafts synthesis using information technologies. Methodology. To solve the task we applied the method of Monte Carlo which consists in creation of sequence of pseudorandom numbers in an interval [0;1], by means of information technologies. By means of the special dependence these numbers grow into the values of the parameters surrounded by a m-dimensional parallelepiped. The calculation process stops when these parameters meet the optimal value. That is the feasible value of hit probability of these values into the region of feasibility surrounded by m-dimensional parallelepiped. Findings. The obtained values of structural parameters are optimal with a probability of 0.95 under required durability and operating reliability, which provide tireless durability, twisting and flexing strength, inflexibility and vibration resistance. The structural parameters determined by information technologies meet the calculation results. Originality. For the first time the IT-based optimization simulation model allows increasing of the planning process productivity in tens of times was created and offered. Practical value. We recommend the simulation model for introduction into engineering and educational process of higher technical educational establishments for design not only drives of scraper conveyers but drives of different machines. The programme development system C++ software package created on the base of the offered optimization simulation model to be used in Windows XP environment allows easy introduction of the shaft design process into engineering. © 2014 State Higher Educational Institution "National Mining University".

The crystals of diethylenetriamine copper(II) sulfate complex (flame retardant) denoted as DETA-CuSO4 have been obtained by direct interaction of solid copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate with diethylenetriamine - DETA (hardener of epoxy resins) and characterized by means of X-ray powder diffraction, infrared spectra (IR) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The results of TGA reveal that the thermal degradation of DETA-CuSO4 takes place at 290 °C, while the maximal temperature of combustion gaseous products amounts to 520 °C. DETA-CuSO4 has been used as flame retardant in epoxy-amine polymers (DGEBA/DETA). The thermal behavior and combustibility of modified epoxy-amine composites (DGEBA/DETA-CuSO4) have been investigated using TGA, method of "ceramic tube" (CT) as well as measurement of ignition point and self-ignition point. TGA data confirms that adding DETA-CuSO4 to DGEBA (bisphenol A diglycidyl ether) appreciably improve the thermic stability and anti-flammability of DGEBA/DETA-CuSO4, mainly, owing to chemically interlinking incombustible inorganic salt of copper(II) sulfate with polymeric framework of DGEBA/DETA. Results of CT measurement show that the maximal combustion temperature of gaseous products for DGEBA/DETA in comparison with DGEBA/DETA-CuSO4 goes down from 867 °C to 640 °C and weight loss decreases from 89.0 wt% to 78.6 wt%. © 2016 Elsevier Ltd. Purpose. To suggest a method, supported by theoretical and experimental studies, for determination of the relationship between the area of the fire and the amount of emissions of toxic combustion products during fire cases at the sites of storage of petroleum and its products. To reduce emissions by implementing highly effective engineering fire protection. Methodology. The method of calculation of capabilities for fighting fires in tanks has been adopted to solve this problem. The subject of the research is the area of the fire in the vertical steel tanks PBC-5000 and the amount of toxic combustion products released in the convective flow due to a possible fire. The environmental pollution with combustion products was determined by the dependencies that included specific values of possible emission of toxic products (stoichiometric coefficients). We have managed to reduce the values of each parameter through implementation of highly effective engineering and technical fire prevention measures. Findings. The results received allow monitoring and controlling the environmental safety at the sites of storage of petroleum and its products. In addition, the proposed dependencies allow determining the quantitative composition of toxic combustion products released into the environment during the fire at the sites of storage of petroleum and its products. Originality. The methodology of the environmental pollution scoring during fire cases at the sites of storage of petroleum and its products considering weather conditions and combustion products spread. Practical value. The results are recommended for implementation in the operating practice of storage of petroleum and petroleum products and administrative management at these facilities to provide fire and environmental safety. It may be used by research and design institutions for design of the objects of storage of petroleum and petroleum products and by higher technical schools in educational process in studies of disciplines concerning firefighting and ecology. © 2015 D.P.
