Based on space temperature field test in solid tower of extradosed cable-stayed bridge, the method to calculate the space temperature field in concrete solid bridge tower is put forward systematically. By entering a series of meteorological parameters and concrete thermal parameters, the bridge tower temperature distribution is gotten. Compared with experimental data, error is within 21.38%, which shows that temperature field algorithm is reasonable. Under the steady temperature field state, analyzing bridge tower section temperature distribution within 24 hours, the result shows: maximum negative temperature difference appears in the moment of sunrise. Maximum negative temperature difference in transverse and longitudinal direction of bridge respectively is 5.1 °C and 4.2 °C. The most-positive temperature difference in transverse direction appears at 15 PM. The temperature difference value is about 20°C. This research simulates the temperature distribution in transverse and longitudinal direction of bridge when maximum negative temperature difference appears in solid concrete bridge towers and provides the curve equation. © Niu et al.; Licensee Bentham Open. For advantage of economical and practical construction, precast T-shape girder bridge is commmonly used in China. In recent years, damage of diaphragm became a serious problem in operation and maintenance. In this study, based on finite element (FE) analysis of an actual bridge, stress distribution and failure process of diaphragm is demonstrated. The result shows that the stress of middle diaphragms started to beyond the limit firstly, under heavey load of 1.5 times equivalent Grade highway-I live load. Then, method of Double-K brace to strengthen the transveral connnection of the exist bridges is proposed and applied on background bridge. Based on the field test, tensile stress of diaphragms concrete reduced 69.4% when Double-K brace were adopted, and the lateral integrity of precast T-beam bridge could be improved effectively. © 2014, Hui and Qing-biao; Licensee Bentham Open. The main substructure of cable-stayed bridge can be divided into cables, tower and girder. During the construction stage of low tower cable-stayed bridge, the connection of cable and tower is provided by the friction between cable and subwire tube when saddle type anchorage is used. To maintain the safety of construction, there should be enough friction to resist unbalanced force during construction and avoid the slip of cable and tower. In this paper, finite element simulation method is studied for the prediction of friction using ANSYS package. And a full-scale segment model is tested to verify the simulation results. Source
