By reactions of indium chloride tetrahydrate with three bis-Schiff bases ligands (N, N′-bis (3-methoxy-salicylidene)benzidine = L1; N, N′-bis (3-methoxysalicylidene)-2, 2′-dimethyl- benzidine =L 2; N, N′-bis (3-methoxysalicylidene)-o- dianisidine = L 3), respectively, three novel corresponding complexes 1∼3 were obtained. The complexes were characterized by infrared spectrum, molar conductance, elemental analysis and thermal gravimetric analysis. The chemical formulae of the complexes 1∼3 were determined as (InCl3) 2Ln (1, n = 1; 2, n = 2; 3, n = 3). All the complexes are constructed with binuclear indium ions. Every complex consists of two central In (III) ions, one corresponding bis-Schiff base ligand and six Cl-. © (2011) Trans Tech Publications.

A novel Schiff base compound, C 20H 27NO 2, was obtained by a condensation of rimantadine and 2-hydroxy-4- methoxybenzaldehyde. An intramolecular O - H⋯N hydrogen bond supports the phenolimine tautomeric form. The adamantane and iminomethyl-4-methoxyphenol units are arranged in a folded conformation [C - N - C - C torsion angle = 110.9 (3)°]. In the crystal, highly hydrophobic adamantane moieties are inserted between the iminomethyl-4-methoxyphenol units in a sandwichlike arrangement along the c axis.

A new method is presented in this paper for improving the linearity of the turbine flowmeter by optimizing the geometric parameters of the rotor. An objective function is defined to improve the linearity. Four characteristic parameters: the ratio of the blade tip space to pipeline radius, the ratio of the rotor hub radius to the blade tip radius, the fitted angle of the blade at the mean square root radius and the cascade solidity of the blade tip, are used to optimize the rotor design according to the n dimension extremum complex configuration optimization method and the turbine flowmeter's mathematic model. The newly designed optimal rotors of 50mm and 25mm bore turbine flowmeter were manufactured and evaluated on a water flow calibration facility. The linearity of the optimized flowmeters is found to be 0.3657% and 0.283% respectively. Copyright © FLOMEKO 2010.

Indium(III) chloride tetrahydrate and Schiff-base ligands derived from adamantaneamine and 3-/4-methoxysalicylaldehyde gave two complexes, C 22H32Cl3InN2O3 (1) and C36H44Cl3InN2O4 (2), respectively. The complexes were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, elemental analysis, molar conductance, thermal analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic system, P21/n space group with the asymmetric unit consisting of one indium(III), one N-(3-methoxysalicylidene)-aminoadamantane (L1), three chlorides and one N,N-dimethylformamide molecule. The indium is six-coordinate with reversed triangular-prism geometry via three oxygens and three chlorides. Complex 2 crystallizes in the triclinic system, P1 space group; the asymmetric unit consists of one indium(III), two N-(4methoxysalicylidene)-aminoadamantane (L2), and three chlorides. The indium is five-coordinate with distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry via two oxygens and three chlorides. Antibacterial activities of the complexes have been investigated against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. © 2011 Taylor & Francis.

The underlying motivation lies in the use of feedback from the real-time monitoring of events and metrics to update strategic and operational policies. Using uncertain real-time information to update supply chain operational policies creates a need for developing dynamic supply chain management capabilities that increase responsiveness to demand and decrease volatility of the replenishment process. Firstly,the determination of decentralized inventory decisions are investigated when the two parties optimize their individual inventory-related costs in a noncooperative manner. Then a optimized control strategy is proposed to manage the inventory replenishment process in a supply chain system under different forecast situations. Finally, a simulation-based experiment is performed to verify control strategy validity. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH Berlin Heidelberg.
