The blends of bismaleimide resin/poly(phthalazinone ether nitrile ketone) (BMI/PPENK) were prepared by the solvent method. The curing kinetics of PPENK/BMI blends was investigated by DSC, and the curing activation energy of the blend was 85.8 kJ/m 2. The effect of the PPENK content on the mechanical property of the blends was studied by the impact and tensile test. The impact strength of blends is in the range of 1.83 kJ/m 2~2.95 kJ/m 2, the tensile strength is between 68 MPa and 84 MPa, and the tensile modules ranges from 1.14 GPa to 1.53 GPa. The toughening mechanism of blends was analyzed by SEM, and the plastic deformation occurred during the fracture of the modified BMI resins. The thermal properties of blends were investigated by TGA. The blends have good thermal stability with 5% weight loss temperature in the range of 420°C~426°C under nitrogen atmosphere. Source

A novel star-comb styrene/butadiene copolymer (SC-SBC) was synthesized by anionic polymerization and grafting reaction with epoxidized star liquid polybutadiene (ESPB) as coupling agent. The overall shape of the star-comb macromolecules can be altered by changing the molecular weight and number of the side chain. The molecular parameters and mechanical properties of the SC-SBC resins were investigated. The notched izod impact strength of the SC-SBC resins are excellent and reach as high as to 239.
