The paper proposes the STARS model (Speaking, Transcript, Argument, Role-play, Scenario) to improve interaction and experiencing in police English learning and policing field training with the assistance of multimedia computer networks. Speaking practice and transcript viewing help the learners to experience the original language; argument discussing, role-play and scenario based training enhance interactions among the participants in a virtual policing setting. Trainees of the program enjoy working collaboratively with the STARS model through integrating face to face learning with network mediated training. © 2011 IEEE. Source

Aiming the problem of the poor robustness of software watermarking, the low efficiency of the implementation of Watermarking Sharing Algorithm, we put forward a kind of software watermarking scheme based on chaotic optimization. The scheme by introducing chaos system, taking matrix partition, chaotic scrambling on the watermark information to form the sharing watermarking; when watermarking embedding, encoding the sharing watermarking as DPPCT topology one by one, and filling the Info domain of every DPPCT with the watermark information treated by Hash; after embedding the watermark, encrypted by chaotic, to protect all the code and prevent the damage brought by the reverse engineering and other means to the software watermarking. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the scheme can effectively resist all kinds of semantics preserving transformation attacks, reduce the program load, to improve the robustness and efficiency of watermark. In contrast with the traditional web-mediated English learning emphasizing curricular presentation, we propose a Virtual Policing in English (VPIE) pedagogy----a unique and innovative application of several latest web technologies in scenario-based interpersonal interactions ---- for the trainee-centered police English learning and field training based on Virtual Enterprise and other recent studies. Five key components of the VPIE network include the STARS model Curricular Learning developed with Dreamweaver 8 and Ulead Video Studio 11 to strengthen experiencing and interactions; the core function of VPIE Field Training implemented with a Scenario Base through a dynamic platform developed with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 asp.net(c#) or with the assistance of QQ International 1.2 to sustain the participant's interests; the Student Voice forum and reflections to ensure the priority role of trainees; synchronous web-lecturing and asynchronous consultation Tutoring to meet individual demands; and lastly a tertiary index quantitative Assessment system to provide a fair and standard evaluation. Outcomes of VPIE practice are consistent to the demanding skills of cross-disciplinary talents and the promising Virtual Service Learning premised on VPIE is being implemented in a wider variety of educational settings and disciplines. © 2013 ACADEMY PUBLISHER. The problem of knowledge management in the knowledge intensive and time critical environment of police department has posed an interesting problem for information technology professionals in the field. In this paper, we propose an extension formal analysis algorithm for maintaining temporal association rules with cooperative numerical attributes by using the intuition learning method. The new algorithm has been implemented to support the discoveries of crime patterns in a district of Dalian of China. We have also experimented with another real life database of courier records of a criminal investigation. Future development efforts for data analysis and knowledge discovery project will also be discussed. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH. Source

The paper described a design of steering wheel with anti-fatigue driving function. This design utilizes pattern recognition technology; was set transformer angular displacement sensor, GPS module and embedded system in the steering wheel. The transformer angular displacement sensor used to collect corner voltage changes of steering wheel. Then the embedded system executes pattern recognition to waveform that consisting by continuously varying voltage, in order to determine the driver fatigue. The system also uses changes of GPS data to determine the state in the vehicle such as stop or action, in order to control the algorithm periods of continuous driving time. Finally, the system provides early warning for fatigue driving combining these two parameters. © 2012 IEEE. Source
