As the replacement of previously recommended poly (4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS) with Mw~7×104 (PSS-7E4) for measuring metal ions by diffusive gradients in thin films (DGT), a relatively large molecular weight PSS with Mw~1×106 (PSS-E6) was used as binding phase in the liquid-type DGT device (PSS-E6 DGT). The binding capacities of PSS-E6 DGT for metals and the stability constants of PSS-E6 with metals were also investigated. The heavy metal speciations measured by PSS-E6 DGT in spiked river water (Cu2+: 26.01 ± 2.59%, Cd2+: 42.96 ± 2.56%, Co2+: 16.41 ± 1.66%, and Ni2+: 18.24 ± 1.96%) and in spiked domestic wastewater (Cu2+: 10.35 ± 1.29%, Cd2+: 20.31 ± 1.25%, Co2+: 8.04 ± 0.89%, and Ni2+: 8.86 ± 0.98%) were consistent with those measured by PSS-7E4 DGT in spiked river water (Cu2+: 26.91 ± 2.82%, Cd2+: 40.88 ± 3.04%, Co2+: 14.83 ± 1.84%, and Ni2+: 16.65 ± 1.83%) and in spiked domestic wastewater(Cu2+: 9.76 ± 1.17%, Cd2+: 19.36 ± 1.49%, Co2+: 7.65 ± 0.92%, and Ni2+: 7.83 ± 1.03%), respectively. Compared with PSS-7E4, PSS-E6 was more suitable as binding phase in the DGT device for its lower pretreatment depletion rate, lower cost, and lower pollution. © 2012 Desalination Publications. Over the past three decades, palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling P-C bonds formation reactions attracted much attention in synthesis of medicines, catalyst-ligands, flame-retardants and polymer materials. The recent progress in phosphorus-carbon bond formation via palladium catalyzed cross-coupling reactions to synthesize organophosphorus compounds is reviewed in this paper. Different classes of phosphorus-based nucleophiles used as substrates in these reactions include dialkylphosphites, hypophosphonous esters, hypophosphites, phosphine oxides, primary/secondary phosphines, triaryl phosphines, trialkyl phosphites, phosphorus-silicon/stannum compounds, phosphine-borane complexes, etc. At the same times, electrophiles used in these cross-coupling reactions include alkenyl halides, aryl halides, alkenyltriflate, aryltriflate, vinylboronates and so on. The reaction mechanism, conditions and influence factors is also described in this paper.

The reliability analysis for differential expansion of steam turbine is discussed extensively. The ultimate state equation of differential expansion of steam turbine is proposed according to stress-strength interference theory. Based on the premise that the probability distribution of random parameters has been known, the differential expansion of steam turbine is analyzed by saddlepoint approximation method. The probability density function and cumulative distribution function of the ultimate state equation are accurately and quickly obtained by the way of saddlepoint approximation and, as a result, the saddlepoint approximation method is proved accurate with high computing speed in comparison with the Monte-Carlo method. Therefore, the application of the saddlepoint approximation method is accurate and efficient. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications.

Based on Saddlepoint Approximation method and sensitivity analysis method, reliability sensitivity analysis for differential expansion of steam turbine with random parameters are studied. On the premise of the probability distribution of random parameters, using Saddlepoint Approximation method, probability density function of limit state function of differential expansion of steam turbine is obtained. The result of Saddlepoint Approximation method is very close to the one of Monte-Carlo, and the computing speed is fast. Then, the sensitivity analysis method and probability density function were employed to discuss the variation regularities of reliability sensitivity and the effect of design parameters on reliability of differential expansion of steam turbine is analyzed. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications.

A seven-mode truncation system of the Navier-Stokes equations for a two-dimensional incompressible fluid on a torus is considered. Its stationary solutions and stability are presented, the existence of attractor and the global stability of the system are discussed. The whole process, which shows a chaos behavior approached through an involved sequence of bifurcations, is simulated numerically by computer with the changing of Reynolds number. © 2012 IEEE.

Using virtual reality computer simulation technology, by researching of the ethylene production process equipment and production process, Ethylene cracking plant modeling and simulation training system development were completed. Ethylene cracking device 3D modeling development scheme and process were introduced, which include the use of 3DMAX software for 3D modeling design, combined with the virtual reality software realization of human-computer interactive function design. On the basis of the analysis of ethylene cracking process, equipment, process control and operation conditions, using process control system simulation platform, Ethylene cracking plant DCS modeling and simulation training system were developed. Using continuous modeling method, combined mechanism modeling with test data analysis, DCS control system mathematic model was established, by which normal operation, start, shutdown process and accident treatment process were simulated. An aqueous solution containing sodium polyacrylate(PAAS) was used in diffusive gradient in thin-films technique(DGT) to measure DGT-labile Ni2+ concentrations. The DGT devices(PAAS DGT) were validated in four types of solutions, including synthetic river water containing metal ions with complexing EDTA or that without complexing EDTA, natural river water(Ling River, Jinzhou, China) spiked with Ni2+, and an industrial wastewater (Jinzhou, China). Results show that only free metal ions were measured by PAAS DGT, recovery=97.36% in the solutions containing only free metal ions, recovery=49.62% in a solution with metal/EDTA molar ratio of 2:1 and recovery= 0 in the solutions with metal/EDTA molar ratios of 1:1 and 1:2. These indicated that the complexes of Ni-EDTA were DGT-inert. The DGT performance in spiked river water(recovery=18.24%) and in industrial wastewater(recovery=12.25%) were investigated, which indicated that the measurement of metals by this DGT device did not include the humic substances complexed fractions of metals. The binding properties of PAAS DGT for Ni2+ were investigated under different conditions of pH value and ionic strength. Conditional stability constants(lgK) of PAAS-Ni complexes were also evaluated.

In view of the situation that the existing consumption management system is expensive, huge, and not easy to be managed, this paper puts forward an implementation based on RFID technology and the database. The hardware of the system consists of microcontroller module, RF card reader module, and so on, and the software consists of MCU and computer programs. After experimental verification, the system has the advantages of low cost, easy deploy, and operate, and can meet the requirements of daily consumption management for small and medium enterprises. © 2014 WIT Press.

Cellulose acetate dialysis membrane (CDM) has been used in the diffusive gradients in thin films (DGT) technique, where accurate diffusion coefficients are essential for the assessment of the concentrations of labile metal in solution. Effective concentration difference model (ECDM), based on the assumption that the effective diffusion coefficient of metal ion in the dialysis membrane is determined by the effective concentration difference (ΔCe) across the dialysis membrane, is proposed and applied to study the effect of ionic strength, binding agent, ligands and Donnan potential on the effective diffusion coefficient. The effective diffusion coefficients of Cd2+ through the dialysis membrane immersed in receptor solutions with binding agent were almost the same as those in receptor solutions without binding agent at higher ionic strengths (0.01-1M) but much higher than those at lower ionic strengths (0.001-0.0001M). The effective diffusion coefficients of Cd2+ through the dialysis membrane immersed in deionized water receptor solutions with binding agent were not significantly different from those in synthetic receptor solutions (receptor solutions with various ionic strengths) with binding agent. The DGT-labile fractions were measured in synthetic solutions and natural waters, which indicated that the effective diffusion coefficients, through the dialysis membrane immersed in the deionized water solution with binding agent as receptor solution and in the spiked natural water as source solution, were more suitable for DGT application. © 2011 Elsevier B.V.
