Objective: To obtain the muscle base value and the muscle development characteristics of Tibetan teenagers in Tibet by counting their muscle mass with bioelectrical impedance method. Methods: We selected randomly 1427 healthy teenagers whose parents were Tibetan in Tibet (710 males, 717 females). They had signed the informed consent. We detected all subjects with the body composition analyzer and concluded the total muscle, trunk (left upper limb, right upper limb, left lower limb, right lower limb) muscle mass. All the results were inputted SPSS (statistical software) and processed by independent sample t-test and variance analysis. Results: The total muscle mass, trunk (left upper limb, right upper limb, left lower limb, right lower limb) muscle mass of males were all more than those of females in all age groups of Tibetan teenagers (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). In general, the muscle mass of Tibetan teenagers in Tibet increased with age, males' increasing trend was more pronounced. Conclusion: The muscle development of Tibetan teenagers in Tibet is related with age and hormone secretion, it reflects the physiological characteristics in different developmental stages. Source

Objective To obtain the fat base value and the fat distribution characteristics of Han adults in Liaoning by measuring their fat content with a bioelectrical impedance method. Methods We randomly selected 1034 healthy adults whose parents are Han in Liaoning (379 males, 655 females). They had signed the informed consent. We detected all subjects with the body composition analyzer and concluded the total fat, to fat weight, visceral fat level, left upper limb (left lower limb, right upper limb, right lower limb, trunk) fat content, then worked out the body fat ratio, and left upper limbs (left lower limb, right upper limb, right lower limb, trunk) fat ratio. All the collected data were analyzed with SPSS ( statistical software ) and processed by independent sample t-test and variance analysis. Results In the majority, the total ( limbs or trunk ) fat content of males was lower than females ( P < 0.01 ) , while male visceral fat level was obviously higher than females ( P < 0.01 ). In males, the total and each part fat content increased with age, which were two peaks, one in 40 age group,and another in 60 and above age group. The male visceral fat level was in a growing state all the times. In females, the total fat content and upper limbs and trunk fat content were increasing all the times, and the lower limbs fat content' s peak was in 50 age group. Female visceral fat level was in rising trend except 50 age group. Conclusion The male total fat and trunk, limb fat contents of Han nationality adults in Liaoning were lower than females, but the male visceral fat level was higher than females. Liaoning Han adult fat content changed with age, and the general was rising, but it was somewhat different in different genders or different parts. Source

Objective: To understand the somatotype of rural Liaoning adults of Han nationality. Methods: Heath-Carter shape was performed on 978 (men 488 and women 490) Liaoning rural adult body shape analysis. Results: Liaoning rural average-sized adult male is 4.5-4.7-1.4, it belongs to endodermal-mesoderm and balanced body, women average-size is 6.0-4.3-0.9, it is of endodermal figure. Liaoning rural Han adult body: gender differences in female-dominated, in factor value, the value of external factor is greater than the female, the male males than females external factor is high, low, and therefore within the factor male body with a high degree of relative slip, is relatively thin, women of subcutaneous fat more developed, buxom. Liaoning rural adult body and other Han group comparison; Liaoning rural males figure and Ewenki, Hui, Mexico and the United States have very different Eskimos, the distinctiveness a nd the United States Northeast and Midwest crowd close, female and Hui and Mexicans have very significant differences, and India, and Mongolia. Conclusion: Liaoning rural Chinese adults have a thick subcutaneous fat. The bone, muscle system are more developed with the medium linearity. While female subcutaneous fat is more developed, and buxom. Male bones and muscles are in good shape and slender slightly. Source
