To resolve the problems that chicken feather fibers were large number of abandoned, light and difficult to wash, the methods of washing chicken feather fibers using chemical method and biological method were researched. The optimum process conditions were determined by the orthogonal experiments. The optimum process conditions of chemical method were ethanol 5 mL/L, pH value 4. 0 6. 0, the washing temperature 50 °C, the washing time 20 min, dosage of feather special detergent 5% (owf) and liquor ratio 1: 30. The best process conditions of biological method were as follows: the hydrogen peroxide solution 50 mL/L, pH value 4. 0 -6. 0, the washing temperature 50°C, the washing time 10min, the dosage of acid protease 3% (owf) and liquor ratio 1 : 30. Under these conditions, chicken feather fibers were washed by chemical method and biological method, the effect of washed chicken feather fibers were compared with that of not washed. The result showed that the differences were very great in the whiteness, the grease content and the bacterial content of washed chicken feather fibers. The conclusion was that the effect of washed chicken feather fibers by biological method was superior to that of washed chicken feather fibers by chemical method. The whiteness was 70. 3% , the grease content was 0. 82% and the bacterial content was 2. 6 x 103 cfu/g by biological method. Source

This paper discussed that influence of different dyeing time and dyeing temperature on dye uptake and the formaldehyde content through the multiple linear regression analysis method, respectively, which established linear regression equation of dye uptake, the formaldehyde content with different dyeing process conditions. The best dyeing conditions were as follows: dyeing time 45 min and the dyeing temperature 80 °C. The experimental results showed that dye uptake could achieve 92. 1 % and the highest value of the formaldehyde content was 33. 09 mg/kg. The linear regressions of feather fibers had a high fitting precision and a good predicting ability. It was valuable to the manufacture of feather fibers. Source

In this work, the dyeing methods with ultrasonic technology and tradition method were investigated. Dye uptake and rubbing fastness as detection index of feather fibers were analysed. The optimum conditions of dyeing in feather fibers with ultrasonic wave technology were determined: weak acid dye: dyeing temperature 70°C, time 40min; reactive dye: dyeing temperature 90°C, time 50min. The results showed that in this dyeing conditions, dye uptake using ultrasonic technology can reach 89.9%, that increased 31.9% comparing with that using traditional method; rubbing fastness can be over 3 grade, and the dry rubbing fastness was raised by 0.5∼1 grade as compared with the wet rubbing fastness. It was found that the effect of dyed feather fibers can be better by using ultrasonic technology, which were eco friendly and so give good effect to human in addition to values on garments, and provided the beneficial to test for development of feather fibers. Dyeing of feather fibers was carried out with weak acid dyes, reactive dyes and neutral dyes under conventional and ultrasonic wave conditions respective. Factors exerting influence on the dye rate, rubbing fastness and formaldehyde content were discussed, such as dyeing time and dyeing temperature. The optimum conditions of dyeing in feather fibers with ultrasonic wave technology were determined; weak acid dyes were dyeing temperature 70 °C , time 40 min; reactive dyes were dyeing temperature 90 °C , time 50 min; neutral dyes were dyeing temperature 90 °C , time 50min. The results showed that in this dyeing conditions, the dye uptake can reach 89. 9% , rubbing fastness can be over 3 grade, and the dry rubbing fastness was raised by 0. 5 -1.0 grade as compared with the wet rubbing fastness, the formaldehyde content was 25. 21 mg/kg. Using ultrasonic technology dyeing effect was significantly better than traditional dyeing methods. The dyeing effect using ultrasonic wave technology was significantly better than traditional dyeing methods. Source
