The X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectra of pure talcum powder from different production areas in China were investigated and compared with the standard data of talcum powder in JCPDS card provided in JADE spectral analysis software. The results showed that, the talcum powder from different production areas showed the same XRD fingerprint characteristics. The reliability and precision of rapid and qualitative screening method of talcum powder were investigated. The rapid qualitative screening method of talcum powder (the content of talcum phase was higher than 70%) was established with interplanar distance (d) of three lines as qualitative index and relative intensity of diffraction peak (I/I1) as semi-quantitative index. This method provided rapid and accurate technical support for the inspection and supervision of exported talcum powder.
