Aiming at problems of abrasion of guide sleeve and leakage of hydraulic fluid caused by offset load of hydraulic cylinder, the fluid-structure coupling simulations of hydraulic cylinders under offset load conditions were carried out based on dynamic mesh. Results indicate that, within the radius of friction circle, side thrust of plunger to guide sleeve, the maximum roll displacement of plunger and stress of guide sleeve increase with the increases of offset loads. When the amount of offset load is larger than the radius of friction circle, the three items decrease but still are larger than the results under steady conditions, which indicates that the hydraulic fluid “intensify” the rolls of plunger. Therefore, in the offset loading analyses and design of hydraulic cylinders, fluid-structure coupling technology is strongly recommended, or rationally increase the safety factor of steady structure analysis. © 2017, China Mechanical Engineering Magazine Office. The volume fraction distribution of the asphalt solute in supercritical solution at swirl nozzle obviously affects the particle formation. Based on the theory of heat and mass transfer in phase change caused by abrupt pressure drop, the flash evaporation model suitable for supercritical fluid model was developed and added to Fluent by the UDF method. By using the flash evaporation model coupling with multiphase mixture model the process of the flash evaporation in the swirl nozzles was studied. A detailed analysis of the distributions of pressure, velocity, temperature and concentration of each phase inside nozzle was carried out in order to predict the important effect of swirl nozzle on pellet-forming. Simulation results showed that there was three-phases stratified flow in the swirl nozzle, so as the pre-separation of pentane solvent and asphalt solute was realized, which was conducive to form smaller and more compact particles. © 2016, Science Press.
