Rural electrification is a costly action due to the great consumer dispersion over the territory and their relatively low electricity consumption. Whereas the cost of electricity supplied to the network at present is lower than that of electricity from RES, the high cost of the network connection and the relatively long distances to the network, the dispersion over the territory and the relatively limited number of isolated households located in the areas of interest should be taken into consideration. That is why RES may represent an efficient alternative to the day-to-day electricity consumption in the disfavored rural areas or in isolated households. Source

The wind energy seems, to be an important component in the definition of renewable energy. This component has two development area: on-shore and off-shore. Development of on-shore wind parks is booming, but, using off- shore wind turbines, allows greater mounting hights of the rotor in areas were the speed of the wind is higher. As a comparision, at average speed of 8m/s at 60m hight, the martime locations of European waters are expected to provide 20-40% more energy then dry land. This is one of the reasons that shows why the development of off-shore wind parks will increase. Source
