Eco-efficiency of coal gasification technology was assessed in the whole life cycle according to std. methods. Four variants of the shell gasification technology (bituminous coal and lignite with and without CO2 capture) were taken into consideration. The technology included prodn., transport and gasification of coal, purifn. of syngas and electricity generation. The gasification of lignite without CO2 capture showed the highest eco-efficiency.
