Discoloration of a textile effluent has been studied using phosphogypsum as adsorbent material under static regime at room temperature. This material residue obtained during the attack phosphate by sulphuric acid has yielded some interesting performances purification. Discoloration of the effluent has reached 75%, and 85% of the organic compounds reduction assessed by COD. The comparison of phosphogypsum with a range of commonly used coagulants showed that the phosphogypsum is more efficient in organic compounds removal and it's improving the quality of physical and chemical effluent.
