Pseudomonas mosselii strain SJ10 is a caprolactam-degrading bacterium belonging to the class Gammaproteobacteria, which was isolated from wastewater of the nylon 6 producing Seongseo industrial complex in Daegu, Republic of Korea. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of the strain, providing genetic information for biodegradation of aromatic compounds. © 2014 Elsevier B.V.

We investigated the influence of prohexadione-calcium (Pro-Ca), trinexapac-ethyl (TNE) and hexaconazole (HX) on lodging and gibberellin (GA) biosynthesis pathway of rice cultivar, Hwayeongbyeo. It was observed that these novel synthetic growth retardants suppressed lodging of rice under field conditions through blocking GA biosynthesis pathway. These growth retarding chemicals were applied at basic (20 uM) and elevated (40 uM) rates either 10 days before heading (10 DBH) or 5 days before heading (5 DBH). We found that Pro-Ca, TNE and their combined application (Pro-Ca + TNE) were most effective in decreasing rice length and lodging index, when applied at 10 DBH. Similarly, the endogenous bioactive GA 1 contents of rice significantly declined with application of Pro-Ca, TNE and Pro-Ca + TNE, while they were less effected by basic and elevated rates of HX as compared to the control. The growth retardants were more effective in decreasing rice lodging and blocking GA biosynthesis when applied in elevated rates. The levels of the endogenous gibberellins in rice shoots were measured by GC/MS-SIM using 2H 2-labeled gibberellins as internal standards. Effect of these synthetic chemicals on growth and GA inhibition were stronger initially but eroded rapidly under field conditions. It was thus concluded that Pro-Ca and TNE were most effective in reducing plant length and suppressing lodging of rice crop under field conditions, where lodging is a major constraint to higher productivity. © 2011 Academic Journals.

We investigated the effect of prohexadione-calcium (Pro-Ca) on growth characteristics and endogenous gibberellins content of Chinese cabbage grown in the alpine region of South Korea. Pro-Ca was applied at the rates of 200 ppm and 400 ppm, after 10, 15 and 20 days of transplanting seedlings in to the field. Application of Pro-Ca through foliage improved quality and quantity of yield by promoting Chinese cabbage head yield, number of head leaves, total soluble sugar content and compactness of head. The leaf size was reduced, while the chlorophyll content increased under the influence of elevated Pro-Ca application, when measured after 40 days of transplantation. The endogenous bioactive GA1 and GA4 contents of Chinese cabbage drastically decreased with elevated Pro-Ca, indicating that gibberellins (GAs) biosynthesis was blocked by this chemical. Current study suggests that both of GAs biosynthesis pathways are operational in Chinese cabbage, although non-C13-hydroxylation pathway was found to be the major pathway. GAs were quantified by gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy-selective ion monitoring (GC/MS-SIM). © 2010.

The effect of Prohexadione Calcium (Pro-Ca) and daminozide was observed on the growth characteristics and endogenous gibberellin contents of Chrysanthemum morifolium R. cv Monalisa White. Three concentrations viz. 100, 200 and 400 ppm of Pro-Ca and a single concentration of daminozide (800 ppm) were applied three times with 7 days interval on three weeks old plant under greenhouse condition. Pro-Ca suppressed the plant length up to 30.7% while daminozide inhibited up to 27.12% at optimum concentration. The chlorophyll contents and stem diameter were higher than control, while the fresh weight and flower number insignificantly reduced with such treatments. Gibberellin (GA) analysis showed that Pro-Ca and daminozide application significantly lowered bioactive GA1 content, although the amount of its immediate precursor GA20 was fractionally higher. Bioactive GA4 content was slightly higher than the control while significant difference in GA9 was found between the plants treated with Pro-Ca and daminozide. Current study showed that both early C13 hydroxylation and non-C13 hydroxylation pathways of GA biosynthesis are operational in C. morifolium. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

In this study, we aimed to understand the effect of sorbitol and salicylic acid (SA) on quality and functional food contents of tomato. Sole or combined application of sorbitol and SA in different concentrations (0.5 mM and 1.0 mM) greatly improved the characteristics of tomato, such as red color tone, soluble solid content, hardness and weight as well as increasing the functional food contents such as of lycopene, anthocyanins and vitamins in comparison with the control. The cyanidin content increased approximately 52-61% and delphinidin contents also increased 20-24% and 39-41% in tomato plants treated with SA alone and sorbitol with SA, respectively. Furthermore, the sole or combined application of sorbitol and SA also increased the vitamin Bi and C contents. In particular, vitamin C content was increased 1.2-fold by treatment with sorbitol alone and was increased 2-fold by SA treatment compared to the control. In the sorbitol with SA treatments, vitamin C content was approximately 4-fold increased relative to control plants. © 2014 Korean Society for Horticultural Science.

The invention relates to diaminoaryl derivatives substituted by carbamate, salts thereof and a pesticidal composition containing the same, which exhibit superior pest control effects against various insect pests of insect species, in particular against moths such as the diamondback moth or Spodoptera litura.

The present invention relates to a method for preparing an emulsifiable solid agrochemical composition which contains an inorganic salt and which can be used as an agrochemical emulsion. The preparation method according to the present invention has the advantage that, because there is no need for a step of heating and evaporating a solvent or water, it is possible to use a surfactant or active ingredient that has a low boiling point or breaks down drastically at a high temperature, and, due to the solid-phase form, it is possible to minimise the amount that sticks to a container as there is no need to use a special synthetic resin or glass bottle that entails high packaging costs. Also, a granular emulsifier (EG) or a powdery emulsifier (EP) produced by means of the method according to the present invention can be further diluted in water before use so as to form common emulsion (EC) emulsified particles (0.1 m to 100 m) to transparent microemulsion particles (0.001 m to 1 m, or 1 nm to 1000 nm), and thus the emulsion size can be freely modified so as to maximise the activity of the agrochemical component in accordance with the characteristics of a crop or an insect pest.
