The design scheme of closed two-phase thermosyphon were suggested that can provide standard thermal operation of blades of high-temperature steam turbine. The method for thermosyphon calculation is developed. The example of thermal calculation was implemented, it showed that to cool the steam turbine blades at their heating by high-temperature steam, the heat can be removed in the rear part of the blades by air with the temperature of about 440°C. © Owned by the authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2016.

Under discussion is the equipment for open pit mining of scarce coal reserves. Methods of overburden dumping are systematized. A new dumping method is offered; it allows reducing land withdrawal by means of utilizing adjacent open pit. The author presents relations for area of internal dumping, considering coefficient of dumping in the adjacent open pit and the volume of the adjacent open pit. The article reports research findings in the area of open pit coal mining and substantiates alternative technologies based on new technological and organizational principles of open pit mining. Using the method of geometrical analysis of an open pit mine field and technological design of mining systems, stage-wise mining technologies have been developed for the case when mining front advance is changed. Such technologies ensure the improvement of a wide range of technical-and-economical and ecological performance of an open pit mine. The main flow charts of the mining sequences are interconnected with natural-technological groups of deposits, that influence cross-wise configuration of an open pit (ultimate contour) and structural characteristics (parameters) of working areas and generate geometrical type of an open pit field. © 2016, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

The residual stresses (RS) research and computational algorithms creation in complex types of loading on the product lifecycle stages relevance is shown. The RS forming finite element model at surface plastic deformation strengthening machining, including technological inheritance effect, is presented. Roller burnishing process considerably increases surface quality and service life of machine parts. Efficiency of roller burnishing rises greatly when technological inheritance (TI) is taken into account. Research results of degree of plasticity reserve depletion (DPRD) while roller burnishing are presented. The problem relating to the mechanics of orthogonal cutting with the deformation site, which is located within the contact area ahead of, below and behind the cutting tool was provided a solution. The above problem is crucial as it involves developing the mechanics of technological inheritance, which emphasizes the need for the operation-by-operation computations of the metal deformed state. The plane deformation (strain) model was adopted for the treatment with a cutter having a rounded cutting edge. Stresses, rates and deformations along the lines of current, which form the strengthened surface layer of the treated part, were computed. The patterns determining deformation accumulation and metal plasticity reserve depletion during orthogonal cutting were exposed. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
