A study was conducted to test an alternative course of laser transmission welding process. The study was conducted to examine the effect of pressure gradation on the strengths of weld lines, demonstrating that the strengths were increased in some cases. The investigations were also conducted to introduce a pressure profile, such as high joining pressure at the beginning of the process to provide for better contact between the adherends and reduced pressure in the second stage to slow down the melt flow, supporting the joining process and generating high weld strengths. The joining pressure was varied over two steps and pressures were graded in the experimental investigations. Laser performance was varied over the two steps, such as 17.6 W and 22.08 W, while the scan rate was kept to a constant 40 Hz.
