A new oxovanadium(V) complex, [VOL(OCH3)(CH3OH], where L is N′-(3,5-ditertbutyl-2-hydroxybenzylidene)-4-methoxybenzohydrazide, was prepared and structurally characterized by physicochemical methods and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c, with a = 8.958(1) Å, b = 12.479(2), c = 23.289(2) Å, β = 94.032(3)°, V = 2597.0(5) Å3, Z = 4, R1 = 0.0387, and wR2 = 0.0942. X-ray structural analysis indicates that the benzohydrazone ligand coordinates to the V atom through the phenolate O, imino N, and enolic O atoms. The V atom in the complex is coordinated by one benzohydrazone ligand, one methoxy ligand, one methanol ligand, and one oxo O atom, forming an octahedral coordination. The crystal structure of the complex is stabilized by hydrogen bonds. The complex is an effective catalyst for sulfoxidation. Copyright © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. Source

A new iron(III) complex, [FeL2(OH2)2]·2H2O, where L is the deprotonated form of 3-methoxysalicylaldehyde, was prepared and structurally characterized by physicochemical methods and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pna21, with a = 13.376(2) Å, b = 22.802(3), c = 7.228(1) Å, V = 2204.6(5) Å3, Z = 4, R1 = 0.0800, and wR2 = 0.1990. X-ray structural analysis indicates that the ligand coordinates to the Fe atom through the phenolate O and carbonyl O atoms. The Fe atom in the complex is coordinated by two L ligands and two water molecules, forming an octahedral coordination. The crystal structure of the complex is stabilized by hydrogen bonds. The stationary properties of the stochastic system driven by cross-correlated additive white noise and multiplicative colored noise were investigated. The stationary probability distribution (SPD) of the stochastic system was derived. The SPD of the different correlation time between white and colored noises (τ 1) with the correlation time between the colored noises (τ 2) and the coefficient of correlation (r) fixed, shows the onset of trimodal-unimodal transition. The claim negotiations are very important to both sides which have attended the engineering project construction. On one hand, the contractors want to cut down loss through negotiations and protect their own legitimate interests, on the other hand, the owners want to shift risks by it and reduce the project construction cost. The strategy and tactics of both sides are one kind of typical game form in the claim negotiations. This article firstly uses alternating offers model to describe the claim negotiations between the owner's and contractor's bargaining. By estimating the contractor's possibility distribute of retention value and the conditional probability of contractor's biding price given under the assumption, the prior beliefs are revised with the Bayesian principle and counter-offer strategy is adjusted. Finally, the paper analyzes and uses strategies which have been considered the time value of money of each other's bargaining to enable the claim event be solved effectively, of course enhancing the engineer project's construction-efficiency. © 2012 Published by Elsevier Ltd. Most concerns have focused on the arsenic (As) contamination in wastewater. Montmorillonite (MMT) has been proved to be a good adsorbent for removal heavy metals existing as cation in ground water while it is invalid for anions. However, arsenic usually exists as anions in aqueous. Accordingly, suitable modifications on MMT need to be done before using. This paper presents the results that a kind of commercial MMT has been modified by iron oxides under normal and inverse titration conditions. The x-ray diffraction (XRD), Thermal Gravimetry Analysis and Differential Thermal Analysis (TGA-DTA) and SBET analysis have been employed to elucidate the modification mechanisms. Modification characteristic analysis illustrated that the iron oxide associated with MMT by coated style as polymerization of hydroxyl-Fe (Fe (OH) 3) under inverse titration condition. Under normal titration condition, on the other hand, the iron oxide associated with MMT predominant by intercalation as goethite (FeOOH). The arsenic removal efficiencies of different modified products for polluted water have also been verified by batch experiments. Results proved that Iron oxide modified MMT on the removal efficiency of arsenic significantly increased and the normal titration is better than inverse titration as indicated by the arsenic removal ratios under the same experimental conditions. Based on these results, the iron oxide modified MMT by normal titration procedure is a promising material for removal arsenic in wastewaters. © (2011) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. Source
