A method to obtain analytical expressions for evaluation of adsorption isotherms of neon isotopes at cryogenic temperatures is proposed. Adsorption isotherms of 20Ne and 22Ne on BAU activated carbon at 77 K are evaluated. The results allow the degree of influence of the pressure and composition of the 20Ne–22Ne isotopic mixture on the separation factor to be estimated. © 2016 Springer Science+Business Media New York

The capabilities of the Amines software module in the Aspen HYSYS software suite to simulate units for amine purification from acidic admixtures at natural gas plants are examined. Values of critical parameters of neon isotopes 20Ne and 22Ne are calculated. Approximate constants of the van-der-Waals, Berthelot, Dieterici I, and Redlich–Kwong equations of state are obtained. Comparisons are made between different materials (basalt, quartzite, quartz, dolomite, gravel, pebbles, carborundum, heat-resistant glass, high-temperature ceramics, steel, and aluminum) and different types of packings (granulated materials, spherical particles, Raschig rings, and twisted rings) for their possible use as packings in heat accumulators. It is found that within the chosen temperature range nearly all of the above materials have roughly the same average volumetric heat capacity as the granulated basalt currently used in heat accumulators and, based on existing specifications, can also be recommended for use as such packings. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media New York.

The design of a brazed aluminum electrode is examined; the surface of the electrode serves as a barrier formed from a nanostructured oxide coating. The prospects of using such electrodes, are demonstrated when a new generation of ozone generators are created. Results are given for a study of structural materials for manufacturing a cover disk of brazed plate-fin electrodes. Aluminum grade A7 and alloy AMts are studied. It is shown that in spite of the established difference in structure, thickness, and morphology of anodic-oxide coatings formed electrochemically on the surface of aluminum A7 and AMts the output parameters of ozone generators with brazed plate-fin electrodes almost coincide. An anodic-oxide coating formed on alloy AMts has lower thickness and microhardness, and this reduces the probability of microcrack formation within an anodic-oxide coating with the occurrence of thermal stresses. © 2015, Springer Science+Business Media New York.

A new-generation pilot ozone-generating plant with a 0.25 kg O3/h capacity is developed. It allows studies in the 1–5 nm3/h oxygen gas flow rate range at cooling water temperature up to +5°C, electric power up to 5 kW, and discharge gap variation from 0.1 mm. It is shown that ozone generators having brazed aluminum plate-fin electrodes with nanostructured barrier anodic oxide coating have indubitable advantages over the existing ones. In this case, alongside the optimization of ozone generator output parameters, it is possible to get ozone in high and superhigh concentrations. © 2015, Springer Science+Business Media New York.
