A cone crusher HP-200, produced by Metso company, was tested in 2008 in the fine crushing department at «Kombinat KMAruda» JSC. The crusher HP-200 replaced the cone fine crusher KMD-1750 (KMD{cyrillic}-1750) subsequently. Final average weighted size of fraction was decreased from 13-14 mm to 6.5-7.3 mm. One technological section became the basis for the tests of a screen Derrick Stack Sizer 2SG48-60W-5STK, which replaced the hydrocyclones 400CVX. Circulating load in the crushing stage was decreased from 250-300% to 40-70%, which made it possible to remove one second-stage mill from the operation process. During the testings, the productivity of the section was increased by 5-8% without decreasing of qualitative indices. There has been recently held the next reconstruction of crushing and concentrating plant with replacement of crusher and hydrocyclones. For the period of six years, ore productivity of mills has been increased by 42 %; consumption of balls has been decreased by 22.2 %; specific consumption of electric power has been decreased by 23%; consumption of water has been decreased to 15 m3/t of concentrate. There are briefly described the earlier laboratory researches, experimental and industrial operations, related to the placement of thickened current concentration tailings in underground developed cells. These researches and operations were held under the production conditions. Industrial technological lines are given along with the list of applied equipment for the following operations: -preparation and feeding of hydraulic stowing into mine; -circulating water supply. Fresh water requirement has decreased by 15-20 times. Initial pulp contains 5-18 % of the solid substance, according to weight. Stowing mixture, supplied to the mine, contains 60-70% of the solid substance, according to weight. Clarification of pulp on the surface is carried out in circular thickener in the mine, using the sludge in the cell. Diameter of the thickener is 50 m. As a result of the technology mastering, there has been completely stopped the storaging of concentration wastes on the surface. Considering the emergency situation, the pulp is entered into the buffer capacity. After that, it is returned into the circular thickener by the floating hydraulic dredge. The stowing mixture is supplied to mine by the vertical pipe line, which is laid in well. The pulp flows in mine by gravity in polyethylene pipes. The filled places are isolated by waterproof concrete bulkheads. Source

Design of the basic concept of further development of mining at «Kombinat KMAruda» JSC was required for the following operations: -final processing of reserves of the functioning floor of Gubkin mine; -setting of new floor of the mine into exploitation; -investigation of methods of increasing of reserves extraction from the subsoils in rather complex conditions, connected with presence of water-bearing horizons in cap rocks and location of mine within the town boundaries. According to the results of the carried out researchings and developmental works, there was accepted the following concept of further development of mining at «Kombinat KMAruda» JSC. Technologically, the extraction of deposit reserves is being carried out in two stages. The first stage is the horizon and single-stall method of development of stall reserves with conservation of interstall and intervening pillars, with the following hydraulic filling of mined out stalls by the concentration sands. The second stage is the development of a part of reserves of pillars by the upward layers with solid stowing. This stage requires the experimental and industrial testings. Source

«Kombinat KMAruda» JSC completely turned to non-waste production of iron ore concentrate in 2009. Underground waste area is the storehouse of 100% of concentration wastes. Water consumption was decreased by 15-20 times. By the beginning of 2013, more than 10.5 mln. t of tailings (dry basis) were put into mine. For the first time in the world, the stowing operations, related to filling of the worked out area, are being realized during the extraction of poor iron ores with simultaneous decreasing of costs and ecological problems solving. At the same time, there is being increased the profitability of production and safety of mining operations. There was found the way to opening of underlying reserves of ferruginous quartzites. The obtained experience can be used both during the aimed projecting of developments and underground mastering of new Kursk Magnetic Anomaly deposits, and during the gradual transition from open casting in the basin to the following development of exploit deposit by combined method. Strategical issue of an enterprise is the transition to development of the new floor reserves, because the amount of the exploit floor reserves is left for the following 8-10 operation years. Underlying floor of ferruginous quartzites' reserves is aimed to be opened by three new shafts and cross-cuts. There is also aimed to unite this floor by inclinations with existing horizons. Horizon and single-stall system is the development system with vibration drawing of ore and hydraulic stowing by concentration tailings. The floor's height is 80 m. New sinking operations are prepared to be started. 7 mln. t of quartzites will be extracted from new development floor, which will guarantee 3.2 mln. t of concentrate output. Particular automation aids have been introduced at «Kombinat KMAruda» JSC since 2003. These aids are still being exploit by this enterprise. New technological processes were caused by the transfer to non-waste manufacturing of iron ore concentrate. Introduction of these new processes required the significant development of automated control system of industrial complex. Complication of production with intensification of competition could not provide the success to the enterprise without the introduction of automated control system of technological processes. Nowadays, 26 automated control systems of technological processes are introduced for the purpose of solving of problems of technological processes optimization in the basic technological shops and services of the enterprise. These automated control systems include: -automated system of telemechanics of power building substations ASTM-07 (ACTM-07); -system of remote control of main fan installations of the shafts No.3 and No.5; -electric drive with asynchronous and tyristor cascade; -supervisory control system of underground substations; -distributed system of automated control system of technological process of water recycling; -automated system of telemetry of thermal energy; -automated control system of technological processes of control of power loading of mills of crushing and concentrating plant.
