Many people are involved in accidents every year at railroad crossings, but there is no suitable sensor for detecting pedestrians. We are therefore developing a ubiquitous stereo vision based system for ensuring safety at railroad crossings. In this system, stereo cameras are installed at the corners and are pointed toward the center of the railroad crossing to monitor the passage of people. The system determines automatically and in real-time whether anyone or anything is inside the railroad crossing, and whether anyone remains in the crossing. The system can be configured to automatically switch over to a surveillance monitor or automatically connect to an emergency brake system in the event of trouble. We have developed an original stereovision device and installed the remote controlled experimental system applied human detection algorithm in the commercial railroad crossing. Then we store and analyze image data and tracking data throughout two years for standardization of system requirement specification. © 2010 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

In computer vision, many systems for video surveillance have been studied and developed. Finding appropriate features is very important especially for robust object tracking. This paper proposes a new system employing an evolutionary technique to track moving objects such as pedestrian effectively. In the proposed system, a number of agents are generated for each object, and independently search and move to the predicted position from features of local region. Each agent can select the appropriate feature relevant for the scene and the object to track by an evolutionary method using two values of feature effectiveness: normality and separateness. We carried out experiments using some scenes in an outside parking. The proposed system showed much better performance compared with the conventional system and a system using particle filter.

A design method for stacked NAND-type FeRAM with a two-transistor-type memory cell is newly proposed. With the newly introduced WL voltage generator, which allows compensation of the drain current variations caused by misalignment of the ferroelectric film removal mask, 4F2 small cell size has been successfully realized. Thirty-two-stage stacked NAND-type FeRAM is a promising candidate for realizing higher reliability than the conventional stacked NAND-type one-transistor FeRAM. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

The paper proposes a new system that can detect suspicious actions such as a car break-in and surroundings in an open space parking, based on image processing. The proposed system focuses on three points of "order", "time", and "location" of human actions. The proposed system has the following features: it 1) deals time series data flow, 2) estimates human actions and the location, 3) extracts suspicious action detection rules automatically, 4) detects suspicious actions using the suspicious score. We carried out experiments using real image sequences. As a result, we obtained about 7.8% higher estimation rate than the conventional system. © 2011 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Studies for video surveillance applications for preventing various crimes such as stealing and violence have become a hot topic. This paper proposes a new video surveillance system that can detect suspicious behaviors such as a car break-in and vandalization in an open space parking, and that is based on image processing. The proposed system has the following features: it 1)deals time series data flow, 2)recognizes "human elemental actions" using statistic features, and 3)detects suspicious behavior using Subspace method and AdaBoost. We conducted the experiments to test the performance of the proposed system using open space parking scenes. As a result, we obtained about 10.0% for false positive rate, and about 4.6% for false negative rate. © 2010 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.


There are provided a method and a device for providing communication data that provide communication data for identifying a device on a mobile object that communicates through an LAN in accordance with a predetermined communication protocol to the device on a mobile object installed on a mobile object without a communication data provision problem caused due to a manual operation, a data gathering method and a system for a mobile object using the method and the device, the device on a mobile object for the system, a network system for organizing vehicles, and an on-vehicle device for the system. Communication data that should be set to a device on a mobile object and is generated based on prepared data generation information representing communication data predetermined in association with a mobile object identification code previously provided to mobile objects A to C in which devices on a mobile object 12A to 12C are installed to enable identifying each mobile object and the mobile object identification code of each mobile object in which the device on a mobile object to which the communication data should be set is installed is provided to the device on a mobile object.
