Homologous series p-(p/-n-alkoxy Cinnamoyloxy) β-benzoyl Styrene is synthesized and studied with a view to understand and to established the relation between molecular structure and liquid crystal property. Homologues are synthesized by reacting p-n-alkoxy cinnamoyl chlorides with p-hydroxy β-benzoyl styrene. Totally twelve homologues are synthesized. Methyl to pentyl homologues are nonmesomorphic while, hexyl to octyl, decyl, dodecyl, tetradecyl and hexadecyl homologues are only nematogenic without exhibition of any smectogenic character even in the monotropic condition. Transition temperatures of the homologues are determined from hot stage polarizing microscope. Solid-isotropic / nematic transition curve in a phase diagram follows a zigzag path of rising and falling and shows overall falling tendency as series is ascended in usual manner. Nematic-isotropic transition curve adopt a descending tendency as series is ascended and behaves in normal manner without showing up of odd-even effect. Melting temperatures are varied between 104.0° C and 179.0° C. Mesomorphic range and nematicisotropic thermal stability are 6.0° Cto 47.0° C and 144.5° C respectively. Analytical data support the structures of molecules. The texture of nematic mesophase is of threaded type as determined by miscibility method. Thus, series under investigation is entirely nematogenic with middle ordered melting type and short range of liquid crystallinity. Mesomorphic properties are compared with structurally similar other homologous series. Source

A homologous series with carboxylate (-COO-) and azo (-N=N-) as central groups have been synthesized by treating 4-n-alkoxy benzoyl chloride with 4-Hydroxy-3-methoxy phenyl azo-4'-chlorobenzene. The first and second members of the series are non-mesomorphic. The nematic property is exhibited by the propyl to hexadecyl derivatives. Polymesomorphism commences from Butyl derivative of the series enantiotropically. The mesogenic properties of the present series are compared with those of other structurally similar mesogenic series. Odd -even effect is observed for smectic nematic and nematic isotropic transition curve behaving in normal manner. Mesomorphic range is between 26° C to 64° Cand series is of middle ordered melting type without any predominancy of either smectic or nematic property. Texture of nematic mesophase is of threaded type and that of smectic mesophase is focal conic fan shaped of the type Smectic-A or Smectic-C as determined by missibility method. analytical data support the structures of molecules. Eleven members of a novel homologous series α-3-[4′-n-Alkoxy Cinnamoyloxy] phenyl-β-4″-nitro benzoyl ethylene are synthesized and evaluated for their mesomorphic properties. Seven members of the series are enantiotropically nematogenic without exhibition of smectogenic character, and the other four members are non-mesomorphic in character. Mesomorphic behavior from a phase diagram for solid to nematic and for nematic to isotropic transitions shows the normal behavior. The nematic to isotropic transition curve shows an odd-even effect. Analytical data support the structures of molecules. Nematogenic phase length ranges from 30°C to 62°C. Nematic-isotropic thermal stability is 175.7°C. The mesomorphic properties of the series are compared with the structurally similar isomeric series. Thus, the series is predominantly mesomorphic (nematogenic) and partly non-mesomorphic with middle-order melting points. Novel heterocyclic compound namely, 4-((1-((4-((dialkylamino)methyl)-5-thioxo-4,5-dihydro-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2- yl)methyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)methylamino)-N-(pyrimidin-2-yl)benzenesulfonamide(4a-e) have been prepared by mannich reaction, a N-(pyrimidin-2-yl)-4-((1-((5-thioxo-4,5-dihydro-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)methyl)-1Hbenzo[ d]imidazol-2-yl)methylamino) benzenesulfonamide(3) react with formaldehyde and different secondary amines. The compound (3) prepared from 4-((1-(2-hydrazinyl-2-oxoethyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)methylamino)- N-(pyrimidin-2-yl)benzenesulfonamide(2) with CS2/KOH. 4-((1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)methylamino)-N- (pyrimidin-2-yl)benzene sulfonamide(1) react with chloro acetic acid and hydrazine hydrate gives compound (2).All the structures of novel synthesized compounds were established on basis of analytical and spectral data. The newly synthesized compounds were studied for their antibacterial and antifungal activities. Source

The ground water quality is determined in five blocks (Nava Naroda, Satellite, Vejalpur, Maninagar and Gota) that lays in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat, where from each block ten ground water samples are under studied for Physicochemical status of ground water. In Physico-chemical analysis, various quality parameter are measured including pH, turbidity, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS),total hardness(TH),content of calcium (Ca2+), magnesium (Mg2+),chloride(Cl-), sulphate (S042-), Iron (Fe), DO, BOD,COD, Total alkalinity (TA) and Nitrate (NO31-) concentration present in ground water. Also all parameters were compared with ICMR standards of water quality; also in present research paper classification of water samples of five blocks was investigation on the basis of TDS and TH.
