The aim of the study is to analyze the effectiveness of non-tension and traditional hernioplasty techniques in abdominal hernias of various localizations taking into account the postoperative period peculiarities, the frequency of postoperative complications and recurrences. Materials and methods. There have been analyzed the results of surgical treatment in 348 patients with hernias of various localization. In 268 of them there has been performed hernioplasty using meshed endoprosthesis (the main group), and in 80 of them - using traditional technique (control group). Conclusion. Non-tension hernioplasty techniques have a number of essential advantages compared to traditional ones. The advantages are the following: absence of a marked pain syndrome in postoperative period, lack of the necessity to administer narcotic preparations, the decrease of powerful analgesic administration, shortening of hospitalization period. In any hernia localization, atension plasty is less traumatic and can be performed under spinal or local anesthesia. It provides rapid rehabilitation and early return to work, significantly decreases the number of recurrences and complications.

The aim of the investigation is to study the possibilities of using modern combined cryodestruction technique to treat ingrown nail in polyclinic surgeries. Materials and methods. There have been analyzed the results of complex cryosurgical treatment of ingrown nail in 17 patients with various degree of pathological process. 17 patients of the control group underwent traditional surgical treatment. Conclusion. Cryosurgical method of treating patients with ingrown nail is least traumatic, cost-effective. It contributes to rapid rehabilitation, improvement of patient's life quality, vocational rehabilitation, and has a good cosmetic effect.

Using immunohistochemical and morphometric methods, the quantitative composition and structural localization of immunocompetent cells were studied in human spleen (n=20, autopsy material). The detailed morpho-functional characteristics of splenic white and red pulp are presented. Cell subpopulations of T (CD3+, CD4+, CD8+) and B lymphocytes (CD20+), natural killer cells (CD57+), tissue macrophages (CD68+) and dendritic cells (CD35+, S100+) were studied. An analysis of the correlations of immunocompetent cells in different regions of white and red pulp may become the basis for optimization of histopathological diagnosis definition in clinical practice

Hypothesis: local and global activation-to-repolarization coupling differ from each other. Experiments were done in 12 dogs and 7 frogs. Activation times (ATs), end of repolarization times (RTs), and activation-recovery intervals (ARIs) were measured in 24 or 64 leads on the entire ventricular surface and on the epicardial patch 5 × 5 mm. The ARI and RT dispersions were greater than AT dispersion on the entire ventricular epicardium but not in the local patch. Both ATs and ARIs were inversely related to each other in the patch but not necessarily on the entire epicardium. The RT sequence depended on the AT sequence within the local patch but not on the entire surface. The contributions of the AT sequence and ARI distribution to the RT sequence was determined by the AT/ARI dispersion ratio. Thus, the AT sequence strongly influenced the RT sequence of the local epicardial fragment but not of the entire ventricular surface. © 2011 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Cardiac repolarization is prolonged in diabetes mellitus (DM), however the distribution of repolarization durations in diabetic hearts is unknown. We estimated the ventricular repolarization pattern and its relation to the ECG phenomena in diabetic mice. Potential mapping was performed on the anterior ventricular surface in healthy (n=18) and alloxan-induced diabetic (n=12) mice with the 64-electrode array. Activation times, end of repolarization times, and activation-recovery intervals (ARIs) were recorded along with limb lead ECGs. ARIs were shorter in the left as compared to right ventricular leads (P<0.05). The global dispersion of repolarization, interventricular and apicobasal repolarization gradients were greater in DM than in healthy animals (P<0.03). The increased dispersion of repolarization and apicobasal repolarization gradient in DM correlated with the prolonged QTc and Tpeak-Tend intervals, respectively. The increased ventricular repolarization heterogeneity corresponded to the electrocardiographic markers was demonstrated in DM. © 2012 Institute of Physiology v.v.i.
