A method for producing a polymer film of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) having a high concentration of silver nanoparticles (NPs) includes forming the NPs by drying the forming composition by the process of slow reduction of Ag ions by soft organic reductants. Changing a filling degree of Ag NPs in the film is achieved by displacement of Ag NPs and their seeds generated in the liquid PVA film under the action of a DC current at 2-6 mA. An example metal-polymer film with Ag NPs may be used in stealth technologies, for creating thermophotoelectric (TPE) elements, photo detectors, radiation cooling and heating of optoelectronic devices, in spectroscopy of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), and for manufacturing LC devices.

Light emitting diodes emit non-polarized light and a polarization block comprising of a truncated cone shaped collimating optical element, a broad band polarization divider, a broadband semi-wave plate, shifting bi-prism and light beam coupler are built to convert the non-polarized light to be converted to polarized uniform intensity light that is focused using a set of projection lens to a writing surface. The said light pen can be used for creating non erasable writing on many types of articles, documents, and records that would provide verification of authenticity and security.

Methods for removing a material layer from a base substrate utilizing spalling in which mode III stress, i.e., the stress that is perpendicular to the fracture front created in the base substrate, during spalling is reduced. The substantial reduction of the mode III stress during spalling results in a spalling process in which the spalled material has less surface roughness at one of its edges as compared to prior art spalling processes in which the mode III stress is present and competes with spalling.

The invention provides a dust repellant and anti-reflective inorganic coating and the method for preparing the coating. The dust repellant and anti-reflective inorganic coating includes nano-porous silica (Si02) network obtained from silica nanoparticles with diameters of about 5 nm to about 35 nm, and is characterized by cracks. The method of preparing the dust repellant and anti-reflective inorganic coating on a substrate includes mixing of aqueous Si02 solution with a solvent. The aqueous Si02 solution with the solvent is stirred to form a stirred solution. The stirred solution is coated on the substrate to form a film on the surface of the substrate. Thereafter, the film is annealed by heating the film to a temperature of about 500C to about 700C within a period of about 2 minutes to about 2 hours. Finally, the film is allowed to cool down.

The invention provides an illumination measuring module which includes a housing and a photo detector. The housing is molded with a plurality of surfaces. Each surface of the housing is affixed with respective side edges of the plurality of the surfaces to form a predetermined shape. Each surface includes an external surface and an inner surface. One surface of the plurality of surfaces is a glass surface. The glass surface transmits illumination collected from an external ambience of the housing to one or more inner surfaces corresponding to the plurality of surfaces. On an inner surface of the glass surface, a plane white sheet is positioned which homogenously scatters illumination collected from the external ambience into the one or more inner surfaces in the housing. The photo detector measures scattered illumination diffused from the one or more inner surfaces corresponding to the plurality of surfaces.
