In this paper, we developed a digital, minimized and integrated PA system with speech recognition and sensor connection based on IP with an ID. It has facilities such as an external input, a microphone and a radio for a PA system and has speech recognition. If "fire" is spoken to the PA system then it can recognize the emergency situation and will broadcast information to the appropriate agency immediately. In addition to that, many sensors, such as temperature, humidity, and infrared, etc., can be connected to the PA system and can be integrated with the context awareness which contains many types of information about internal statuses. Also, developing the digital integrated PA system with operational MICOM will make it possible to control the facilities of the digital devices centrally. Finally, the digital PA system is designed for operation from a PC, which makes installation and setting of operating parameters very simple and user-friendly.


A system consisting of an air stripping unit, an inhibitor removal basin, an aerobic basin, and an anoxic basin was investigated for nitrogen removal from coal gasification plant stripped gas liquor containing high-strength organic, nitrogenous compounds. Nitrite oxidation, followed by the reduction of nitrite to nitrogen gas, was adopted for nitrogen removal. The free ammonia concentration in the coal gasification plant stripped gas liquor was obtained by modified empirical method. The optimum reaction temperature, pH, and ammonia-N concentration in the feeding solutions for the ammonia oxidation to nitrite were 30 C, pH 8.0, and less than 200mg/L, respectively. Over 98% of the organic compounds in the wastewater, including phenol, O-cresol, m-cresol, quinoline, and benzene, were removed using the nitrogen removal system by incorporating an inhibitor removal basin. An inhibitor removal basin accelerates ammonia oxidation rate and enhances settleability. This system provides a much faster nitrogen removal rate and less consumption of external carbon sources when compared to conventional nitrogen removal system combined with nitrification and denitrification. © 2014, Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers, Seoul, Korea.

There are two kinds of public address (PA) systems: analog PA systems and digital PA systems. The digital PA systems have better communication quality than analog PA systems, and many companies manufacture various types of digital PA systems. Digital PA systems are used in public places where there are vast crowds of people. In this paper, a digital, minimized, and integrated PA system was developed. Its facilities included an external input, a microphone, a CD, and a radio for a PA system. The developed digital integrated PA system with an operational MICOM will make it possible to centrally control digital device facilities. The operational MICOM has three layers: a control layer, a processing layer, and a user interface layer. In addition that, the remote control and key inputs are used for the central control. The execution results showed that the system can operate different digital media individually or together concurrently.

A variable message signs is an electronic traffic sign often used on roadways to give travelers information about special events. However, a variable message signs has the different sizes and a specific type according to the city scene and it has to be displayed by different message on the display panels in real-time. And the variable message signs providers must produce the different products each order. In addition that, they should test and check the correct operation to each variable message signs product using different message frame. That is very time and workers consuming and automatic variable message frame generator system for variable message signs is necessary. In this paper, we design and implement an emulator system for variable message signs. The exact message size is decided when the message is generated. And the variable message generator can decide the exact message size using the difference between a given data size and a field of the data size. The system can be set several parameters easily on a window dialog which are necessary parameters for generating the variable message frame. © 2014 SERSC.
