In this paper, we developed a digital, minimized and integrated PA system with speech recognition and sensor connection based on IP with an ID. It has facilities such as an external input, a microphone and a radio for a PA system and has speech recognition. If "fire" is spoken to the PA system then it can recognize the emergency situation and will broadcast information to the appropriate agency immediately. In addition to that, many sensors, such as temperature, humidity, and infrared, etc., can be connected to the PA system and can be integrated with the context awareness which contains many types of information about internal statuses. Also, developing the digital integrated PA system with operational MICOM will make it possible to control the facilities of the digital devices centrally. Finally, the digital PA system is designed for operation from a PC, which makes installation and setting of operating parameters very simple and user-friendly.


A system consisting of an air stripping unit, an inhibitor removal basin, an aerobic basin, and an anoxic basin was investigated for nitrogen removal from coal gasification plant stripped gas liquor containing high-strength organic, nitrogenous compounds. Nitrite oxidation, followed by the reduction of nitrite to nitrogen gas, was adopted for nitrogen removal. The free ammonia concentration in the coal gasification plant stripped gas liquor was obtained by modified empirical method. The optimum reaction temperature, pH, and ammonia-N concentration in the feeding solutions for the ammonia oxidation to nitrite were 30 C, pH 8.0, and less than 200mg/L, respectively. Over 98% of the organic compounds in the wastewater, including phenol, O-cresol, m-cresol, quinoline, and benzene, were removed using the nitrogen removal system by incorporating an inhibitor removal basin. An inhibitor removal basin accelerates ammonia oxidation rate and enhances settleability. This system provides a much faster nitrogen removal rate and less consumption of external carbon sources when compared to conventional nitrogen removal system combined with nitrification and denitrification. © 2014, Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers, Seoul, Korea.

There are two kinds of public address (PA) systems: analog PA systems and digital PA systems. The digital PA systems have better communication quality than analog PA systems, and many companies manufacture various types of digital PA systems. Digital PA systems are used in public places where there are vast crowds of people. In this paper, a digital, minimized, and integrated PA system was developed. Its facilities included an external input, a microphone, a CD, and a radio for a PA system. The developed digital integrated PA system with an operational MICOM will make it possible to centrally control digital device facilities. The operational MICOM has three layers: a control layer, a processing layer, and a user interface layer. In addition that, the remote control and key inputs are used for the central control. The execution results showed that the system can operate different digital media individually or together concurrently.

Currently in the Machinery and IT convergence industry, there are an increasing number of devices available and under development that can enable those services with the use of various emerging IT convergence technologies. However, there is not yet a dominant system architecture and format for describing the data and control methods on various devices for those services. In this paper, we made the machinery and IT convergence system architecture including gateway. Also this specification describes MITCXML (Machinery and IT Convergence extensible Markup Language) format to remotely monitor and remotely control in-premises' machinery and IT convergence devices using XML (extensible Markup Language). The experimental result shows that our MITcXML based convergence scheme achieves more interoperability than manual management schemes. © 2013 IEEE.

A variable message signs is an electronic traffic sign often used on roadways to give travelers information about special events. However, a variable message signs has the different sizes and a specific type according to the city scene and it has to be displayed by different message on the display panels in real-time. And the variable message signs providers must produce the different products each order. In addition that, they should test and check the correct operation to each variable message signs product using different message frame. That is very time and workers consuming and automatic variable message frame generator system for variable message signs is necessary. In this paper, we design and implement an emulator system for variable message signs. The exact message size is decided when the message is generated. And the variable message generator can decide the exact message size using the difference between a given data size and a field of the data size. The system can be set several parameters easily on a window dialog which are necessary parameters for generating the variable message frame. © 2014 SERSC.

These days, private information has often been leaked because of increased IT outsourcing, administrator's moral problems, multiple root accounts, and root accounts shared by many users, etc. Accordingly, organizations have employed insider attack detection systems to protect their critical information from break-ins by insider attack and hackers. In this paper, we developed an integrated insider attack detection system which was composed of a minimized hardware appliance and a software package using TCP tunneling. It could be configured as a gateway between users and the legacy servers in order to protect the important internal information in the legacy servers. And it could control the access of users on the servers, who were connected by Telnet or FTP, and would block the theft of confidential information using intelligent packet filtering. Also, it should provide an audit using the packet logging on the legacy servers. © 2011 IEEE.

Applying cutting-edge technology to a traditional item equals making a brand new product that is innovative and efficient. Advances in communications and control technology, the strengthening of the Internet, and the growing recognition of the urgency to reduce risks and production costs are motivating the development of improvements in the traditional machinery manufacturing industry. Currently in the machinery and IT convergence industry, there are an increasing number of devices available and under development that can enable those services with the use of various emerging machinery and IT convergence technologies. However, there is not yet a dominant format for describing the data and controls on various devices for those services. XML (eXtensible Markup Language) is a widely used internet-based language due to its interoperability and expandability. Thus XML can be used for representing a set of information necessary for those services. In this paper, this specification describes M&ITcML format to remotely monitor and remotely control machinery and IT convergence devices. It provides two modelings, device modeling and event modeling, based on XML using an object-oriented modeling method. Also, we designed the following data types: primary data type, reference data type and user defined data type (which is a combination of primary and reference data types for modeling).

The phrase, "convergence technology," refers to the synergistic combination of conventional industry and IT (Information Technology) including advanced computing and communications. The growing recognition of the urgency to reduce risks and production costs is motivating the development of improvements in the traditional manufacturing industry using IT convergence. This paper describes the IT convergence application which is a combination of traditional dust chamber industry and the Internet, using Power Line Communication (PLC) and Case-Based Reasoning (CBR). At first, we developed a connection method between a differential pressure transmitter (that is a sensor of the dust chamber) and a PLC modem. Also, we designed a message format to transmit the data from a PLC modem to a user and from a user to a PLC modem. The transmission data unit in the PLC modem is a byte, and we defined the n-bytes message format. In addition to that, we applied case-based reasoning to intelligently find the optimal exchange time for dust chamber bags. The experimental results on the developed system are also presented.
